Is it possible to check voicemail onthe IT? Also why does skype autolog out?

And can i use the contact buton > new internet call to goto skype?

I really think i need a smarter skype frontend.

the IT is my new best friend though.

Skype only autologs out if you actually close the Skype app. If you want to do other things and keep Skype ready to receive calls in the background, just minimise it instead of closing it completely (you can minimise it using the icon in the top right corner next to the X).

You can only access Skype through the Skype icon, you can't use Contacts. The reason for this is that Skype stores your Skype contacts online rather than on the tablet, so you will see the same list of contacts whatever device you use to access Skype.

Regarding voicemail, do you mean voicemail from your mobile phone provider, or do you mean some other voicemail system?

For me, if I have a new voicemail when openning skype, there will be a red astrick <sp> on the history tab. Going into the history list, click and hold the desired message and you'll get a popup menu with a 'play' option.

My only gripe re skype is that you can't turn off the unnecessary sounds, but leave (incoming call) ringing on.

I use both skype and gizmo, and have call in numbers for both - gizmo ringing thru the new built-in IM client. n800 works great with these services imo.

Does skype out work on the IT? I don't have patient friends to put up with crappy calls. So far I have only tried to check voicemail from my cell phone with it. Twice the automatd service got frustrated deciphering the keypresses and hung up on me. "I'm sorry, I don't undestand", click. The time I got through, I could barely make the messages out.

I had a 3 month free trial of callout. Is this typical so far, or do I have something set up wrong? N800 os2008 skype 1.7.62.51.1

I use Grand Central and Gizmo, so no loss there.

Yes, skype works quite well in fact. For me it has been much more reliable than either Gizmo or Google talk. For that reason, if I'm making a call to someone like a customer, I use Skype. I'm starting to get more comfortable with just using it without any kind of headset in a speaker phone mode. The built in microphone works great for this and you can hear people fine. Skype does work to pick up third party voicemail but most of the time ( I'm a T-mobile customer) I have to press the prompt numbers like my password number more than once for the system to get it right. The only other problem I've had with Skype is a delay experienced by the person I'm calling, but this isn't always a problem. The fact that Skype works so well during a call far outweighs any of it's glitches for me.
