Hi Guys,

I attempted to refresh my repositories earlier today (check for updates etc) and got the following error...

The log reads?

Code:
hildon-application-manager 2.0.2
/usr/lib/apt/methods/gzip: /lib/libc.so.6: version `GLIBC' not found (required by /usr/lib/apt/methods/gzip)
/usr/lib/apt/methods/gzip: /lib/libc.so.6: version `GLIBC' not found (required by /usr/lib/apt/methods/gzip)
E: Method gzip has died unexpectedly!
E: Method /usr/lib/apt/methods/gzip did not start correctly

Any ideas?

Have you tried rebooting your device?

Are you booting from internal flash or SD/MMC - has the filesystem on the latter become corrupted somehow?

/lib/libc.so.6 should be symlinked to /lib/libc-2.5.so - has something deleted either libc.so.6 or libc-2.5.so? If so you may be looking at a reflash unless you can download the missing file from somewhere (I can put it up here if necessary).

Thanks for the response Millhouse.

I have not done anything strange - device has been rebooted a number of times... and I have not had any issues with the file system of late...

Can you please post the relevant files for me that would be great...

I have added and customised my tablet quite a lot - webserver and PHP blog etc etc so kinda keen to only flash if its necessary

I don't know what files you have missing... you avoided answering.

Let's assume you have libc-2.5.so and libc.so.6 missing. The attached zip archive (which has a .deb extension but only so I can bypass the forum filesize limitation upload a 471KB file) contains libc-2.5.so which you need to transfer to lib, then create the sym link for libc.so.6.
Attached Files
File Type: deb libc-2.5.zip.deb (471.7 KB, 157 views)
