Anyways, if the response is positive than go ahead and take another poll on countdown topics. If the response is negative, ignore it and go ahead and take another poll.
Not sure how a poll will help the world but then again. I'm not know everything!

*cough* Did you say Windows servers are reliable? I know several large corporations who USED to run Windows servers who might disagree with that notion--including the one I currently work at, which is quickly trying to get rid of them as soon as possible and replace them with anything POSIX (with a preference for Linux servers). Considering the incredibly poor reliability I've seen first-hand, I also have to disagree with that portrayal. Elop probably never did any server administration to recognize that, though, so the point is still taken that he doesn't think of the miserably unreliable junk that Windows has come to be to most people--and that perception will continue to follow it to their mobile platforms.

He throws an interviewer's iPhone around. What a jerk on top of being stupid. I'll say it yet again: I suspect Elop might just be clinically stupid. He should get checked, honestly.

I deraield NOTHING, you pompous jackanape! I'll add that I don't like your tweed, sir! OK, maybe I derailed a little or a lot--but you had it coming after the countdown ran out!

At least I derailed the conversation in a meaningful way in Off Topic, not all over the site like I'm missing some brain cells...

OK, derailing the thread even further... we are running the rocky ground now but whattehehell, let's ride it

So, I am not really in the know-how of the state of windows server administration today. Currently I only work with linux servers and the last time I had anything to do with windows was when NT4 was the state of the art, and back then there were not that many problems.

I actually don't recall ever having had that many SW related problems, all problems that we had were traced back to broken HW and there is no OS that can survive when the HW platform under starts burning chips... Even windows servers work(ed) well when there was no possibility of letting (l)users to install junk on them.

Things may have of course changed since the turn of the millenium

Yeah, NT4 was actually pretty rock-solid... well, except for the clock but that made it crash consistently every 40-something days every time, requiring a reboot to make sure the server didn't crash unexpectedly... and then the clock drifting problems.. and that's assuming you weren't one of the unlucky bunch that didn't run into the common Windows NT 4 installation blue-screen bugs.. and then there's the memory pointer bugs.. and, well... then there's all the security vulnerabilities and the ring-0 problems with drivers.

...Other than all of that, NT 4 was totally rock solid on good hardware. That tradition continues into today! Totally.

...Just to be safe, though, we'll continue migrating to Linux at work, thanks.

I wouldn't say linux/unix is better than windows or the other way around when it comes to servers. They a great for different stuff. But then again, who am I to tell you how it is. I just **** ***** ********.

That is one of the most ridiculously ugly designs i've seen in a long time; even uglier than Dave's imaginary disc phone
