For those of you still rocking an N900, I just thought I would share the experience I had at T-Mobile.

There was a leak recently about new T-Mobile plans coming out tomorrow. They came out today and the deal I got in the store was better than either what I saw online or from the leak.

What I got for my N900:

unlimited talk
unlimited txt
unlimited (3G) data
no contract
no activation fee
no charge for sim card

all for $50/month.

EDIT: also unlimited tethering (posting now with tether)

Unlimited (3g) data -> most likely 2 Giga / 500 Mb with no overage fee
For trully unlimited it should be additional 20.

PS: Add wifi hotspot now is "legally" built-in even though if you have N900/N9 you can do tethering with mobile hotspot

Yes, for truely unlimited 4G data it would be an extra $20/month. But if your phone only does 3G, the people at T-Mobile assured me that once I exceed the 500 megs of 4G included in the basic plan, that my 4G speed would be throttled to 3G (instead of 2G like it says in some places).

Since the N900 is only 3G anyway, I'm happy with that.

We'll see if they were actually right.

For about 3 years now, I have had unlimited txt/voice/data. It is unlimited data, but throttled after 5gb. I pay 40 bucks a month.

I am with Wind Mobile in Canada.

Well, since T-Mobile USA's "4G" isn't actually LTE, but rather 3.5G with some stuff they did to get better throughput or somesuch, I always understood it to be the case that the N900 does what T-Mobile calls/markets-as 4G, since it does 3.5G. So the above throttling may still be relevant.

How much are the taxes and other fees?

I pay $17/month and I get:
- More than enough call credit (we dont pay to recieve calls, only to make them)
- Unlimited txt
- Unlimited VoiceMail (yes, its free to make but costs to recieve)
- 2GB data (heaps for a phone/tablet)
- Calls to all numbers (some numbers can be made only from Home Phone Line)
- Use in anywhere in the country (unlike US and A)
- No contract !!!!

....no phone, but its cheaper this way.

Us Americans are use o getting ****ed by the providers.

It's an interesting development from T-Mobile USA. It seems like partly a way to differentiate itself from the leading carriers in the US (T-mo has been struggling for years), but could also be a way to get its offerings somewhat aligned to MetroPCS, which is a value pre-paid carrier in the US that is merging with T-mo in the near future.

In any case, it's still not enough for me to change plans. I am still running month-to-month no contract with a grandfathered plan with unlimited internet/hotspots/tethering... not that it really matters since T-mobile doesn't care about my N900 and what it can do...

I currently use the T-mobile plan you have to purchase online from them. For $30/month I get 100 min talk, unlimited text, and 5GB data. For $15 extra you can also tether - free if you use a hack found on XDA ; )
