It seems there is yet another update, i.e. version 2.1-16

version 2.1-17 hasn't any reboot-loop issues for me ... but a changelog would be nice

2.1-17 throws me an error message through the application manager update wizard. Do I need to enter red pill mode to do updates? I thought I did one yesterday with no problem, but that was without having done a reboot since the original beta install.

"Unable to install.
Software contains updates to a package installed from a different source and is likely to harm the system...."

Should I delete current dependencies and then do the update?

The entire RTcomm series has needed red pill. It's beta.
(edit - my bad. It's still beta.)
I just went from 2.1-15 to 2.1-17, rebooted several times, tried some things.
Seems OK.
While I was in red pill, I finally updated Map to the same version I already had,
so it'll stop showing up every time I look for an update.
That seems to work, as well.

And yes, I'd love a changelog.
Hell, I'd be happy with a date in the description.
People don't document these things nearly well enough.

The previous two updates didn't need red-pill mode. Now this is imposed by a security feature of the update mechanism since the new files come from a different repository. (This feature has been included to block the updating of components by unauthorised people ++)

Would an appropriate feature request be for the ability to bring up the buddy list from the status icon on the top?

Went ahead and did the install. Not much changed, except for that I now have a Speed Contacts applet that allows me to resize, and then select the contacts that appear in it. It shows their avatar (if they have one) as well as their current status. Kinda neat, no clue if it was there previously or not.
