WAP is a protocol for browsing sites (called WAP Sites) pretty popular back then when GPRS service was out since it was only 56 kbps.
Yappari will work in GPRS but you'll curse to anyone who sends you a picture :P

I have 3G without any problems in Spain, but i am mostly connected with 2G with my N900 to save a lot of battery. I use and receive photographs in Yappari with 2G. For photos is a bit slow but works.
