I cannot even get to them. I had configured things and receiving mail worked. When I made some changes, following advice I found on the internet, nothing works. when I click on View Inbox, I see Email loading for about 10 seconds and then the message vanishes and all activity ceases. Same thing when I try "new email message"
I've looked at all the Tools menus I can find and there is no mention of the email account(s). It's true that my gmail account has a large number of messages, but POP is enabled for only new ones. I'm pretty sure I entered the wrong server(s).
Does anyone know how I can get to edit or create email accounts? The usual way is no longer an option.

Are you using the Email client that comes with the device? I assume an n800?
I think I would just delete your current account set up and start over all together. Another thing you can do is just find on the maemo web site the Claws email software and download and use that. It's a much more option rich product anyway and works fine in OS 2008. Claws is also pretty easy to set up. It comes with a set up wizard that walks you through the set up process.
I guarantee that Claws works great with Gmail. Just use the settings listed on Gmail's help page for 'other' devises. As part of that, go into the advanced setting page and set the receive and send ports listed at Gmail.

Good Luck to you,
Neil

edit: If you use Claws, you may also want to start using IMAP rather than POP. IMAP does a better job of syncing with your Gmail account. It will, for example, show a message as read on the web site email version if you have read it in your Claws mail client. IMAP is just as easy to set up. Just remember that IMAP will need to be enabled in your Gmail settings page.

I'm having problems with IMAP; keep getting something about refiguring a folder tree - which is meaningless to me, and I didn't see anything in the user manual:
Here are the account preferences:
Basic: Protocol IMAP4
server for receiving : imap.gmail.com
server to send: smtp.gmail.com
user ID: (my gmail id)
password: (my pw)
Receive: Authentication: automatic
Show subscribed forlders only: unchecked
I used the port numbers 993 and 465 from the gmail site. and checked theSTSSg (or whatever it is) for SSg.

When it runs, I see "scanning folder tree" and the box saying conncecting. Then an error message. which turns out to be **IMAP stream error
If I try to send a message I see: could not queue message for sending

Do you see anything that I should change?
