HTML5 should not be a problem. Let I remind you that they use QtWebKit means its QT community with Digia who makes that happen.

There is something else I'd like to know about yet about the " social networking integration". Will those be seperate programs I can chose to deinstall or will FB, Twitter, etc. be a firm part of the OS already?

Haven't you watched the videos? It's tight integrated (contacts / feeds / messages, even store). I doubt you can remove that.

Just don't use it.

From Marc Dillon himself and from Jolla employes on IRC. A Jolla employe said it in that DNA hangout.
It's based on IPCLite API (embedlite). Just like QmlMozBrowser or MeeFox. But they do of course their own UI. So yes, it's kinda a Firefox like MicroB on N900 was kinda a Firefox.

Why are you pissed? I'm glad it's Gecko.

Thanks for the reply! Yes, I've watched all the videos and was still hoping for a "core os" where everything needed/or not could be removed/add by the user, true linux style.

gecko is great but it won't properly open krappy built sites like touch facebook which is handy for a facebook user like me.
hope the fb client is better than the one on n9.

maybe some could be removed. they claim it's the most open mobile os so...

Gecko is ok, I thougt u meant somemthirdparty made app like firefox mobile, the bloated firefox mobilUIapp is just a joke and non user friendly paece of ****. Anyway we have QtWebkit2 to from because I take from granted thats lib is in the core system.
