yes, you can do that as well but i don't see the problem with choosing the right one..

further more you don't need to open the image with anything!!!
.bin file is fine

you probably opened it with some media player which couldn't read the file (of course) and just jumped to the next video in the folder or whatever...

it's not rocket science

Hah! Nokia service centre in KL, don't have the technology to fix my phone....GRR.
Btw, I have to ask does reflash work to the extend of retrieving my information or no. Am getting replies that there are no such thing as reflashing

Who are you asking? Every phone fixer knows how to flash android so how they wont know about it?

You dont have any friends that know about computers?
You could just ask them to do it and tell to just follow instructions.

Or I can help you in this thread click by click.

First you should have WinFlasher_3.12.1.exe

And any 1.3 firmware.

When you have those ask so I tell next steps.

afaik if you just flash firmware everything that is located under /home/user/MyDocs is preserved which includes pics, music, videos and documents

i don't know if flashing the firmware preserves your contact list!

however, i don't see what you have to lose...
if you don't fix your phone contacts are gone anyways

if you wnat to flash it yourself you can use the instructions i gave you and (of course) the comprehensive firmware flashing guide

If you have questions/trouble feel free to ask

I asked the technician at the Nokia service centre, and apparently thousands of other phones went through the process of reinstallation and lost all their info as well, not only Nokia phones. They analysed my phone today and said it was a software/motherboard failure and add that if i cant get pass the Nokia logo on my phone to load, meaning there is no way to retrieve old information and they have to refresh the entire system.

Do tell, what is reflash or flashing exactly, and how does it work. I installed the items mentioned and connect the phone to pc right? And the result will let me retrieve my information on the phone or on the pc? Btw, am using the meego/harmattan do Nokia N9.

Reflashing over writes old system files with new.

Command what we are suggesting you to do is: flasher -f -F main.bin

With that command you wont lose your data stored in MyDocs.

Theres backup files from messages, contacts, emails and even settings stored in MyDocs.

You control your flasher from your Pc command line.
Open it as administrator:

Open startmenu on pc.
Type CMD to search field.
Right Click it and open as administrator.
Now follow guide and type in commands.
