This questions seems to repeat over and over again but I still can't find a solution to this problem, so I will try my luck with you experts and then see what could possibly be done.

I have a black Nokia N9 16Gb bought from Australia using ebay. The phone is awesome and I am asking myself everyday "How coud I be using any other OS/Phone for so long ?". But yet some problems remain, the two I always criticize are the following :

1 - The camera produces some blue lines which gives a bad picture quality.
2 - The native email application closes when I press the "Folder" button.

I have a friend with a Portuguese Nokia N9 16Gb and he doesn't have those problems. He has the latest PR_001 version of the firmware and I have the latest PR_299 downloaded directly using Nokia Care (since the other application doesn't work anymore) and using my phone ID.

When I try to flash his version, I have the classic error saying "Downgrade disallowed".

So my question is :
- How can I flash this version of the firmware ?
OR
- How can I solve this bugs using the same firmware.

If I remember correctly with harmattan it is not possible to downgrade firmwares, there's no way to fix that. Regardless of where the device came from or whichever locale firmware it has installed its not possible.

You might be able to solve issues by trying alternative programs and seeing if the program still exist. If the issue still persist its probably issues with the underlying system fault and/or hardware fault. There's no easy fixes if its a system fault unless you intend to go down inception path and try to fix it up installing older/varied programs. If its a hardware fault, the only way is to get it fixed by replacing the faulty hardware in question.

By the way, just a forewarning that using inception or anything similar on harmattan may void warranty.

aliasbody, the problems you are listing arent bugs in australian fw. {i used it for 6mos}. in fact, they may be hardware problems, in which case youre just effed.

still, flash the firmware and see if it helps! click the link rzr provided and read all about it.
here is the lowest-numbered firmware you can flash:

{i recommend that you also flash your emmc at the same time. if you do, you CAN use the 001 version, and it has less crap in it.}
{i also flash the openkernel; if you do, remember to wipe the disclaimer-cal BEFORE you flash it.}

Thank you for your help. So if I understand right, there is no way to solve this ? I will try to flash the version you sent me but it is an older version if I understand it right... Let's see how it goes.

But that's quite sad for the "most open device for developers out there".

EDIT: I can't flash with the firmware you send me. The same problem about the downgrade.

I installed the V2 from Portugal (since I live in Portugal). I was hopping that this would solve my problem (more updated version). But nothing to do. The same bugs in it.

So now I have a newer version with a higher PR (300 and something), with the same bugs and I can't put the Australian firmware again because it is considered a downgrade...

What a nice job (not...)

If anyone could help me with that I would be very glad ! Otherwise maybe I will start to think about selling the phone or something like that....

I could use (or create myself) an application for the email, but I can't solve the camera problem, so that's not a solution.
