....

the point is I am not using my N9 as a smart phone.

Actually smartphones makes you not smart.

* You spend to much on forum to flamewar how bad other phones is because your favourite phone and OS is best.

* You buy a new phone often just to realise hell this phone is soo good now lets wait for next SOOO GOOD phone.

* You dont use all the ****ing apps at the sore except 3 or 4. In my case only two, twitter and the browser.

so what the heck is the point have so called smart phone?

DAMN THEM ALL

There's a glitch in the matrix...

Somebody get him... he's figured out the marketing ploy. Distract him with larger screens and bigger RAM counts and pixel density...

Stellarium (and Orrery).
Dictionary (worth its weight in gold).
Maps (and Metro).
Sound recording (and playing, and FM radio).
Calendar.
Camera.
Drawing-Sketching.
LED torch.
Clock-alarms.
Chess.
What is there not to like about smart phone? [I don't use Twitter. Browser is Fennec, mostly for experimental purposes]
Best wishes.

It's not the phone that makes it a smartphone. If the people holding it isn't Smart it no point having it. And the phone certainly don't make you do anything you don't want to do.

Don't blame the phone .

I want a true pocketable computer (Firebird + Python + Cython + Bjoern + Bottle + Browser + Cron) + decent camera + mp3 player + mobile phone + sat nav. Apps, pretty screen transitions, etc... are of no real interest to me.

I'm hoping Ubuntu Touch will deliver.

The point of a smartphone is so the user doesn't have to be [smart].

I agree completely with this statement (I don't see the Thanks button however, lol)

On another note, i guess we could also consider the OP's comment as a 'warning' to the uninitiated to buy a (smart)phone that will really do what they want, not be drawn to features you have NFC about or no need for.

When I bought my N900 in 2011, I knew a lot about it (had even trialed it out on Nokia's Remote Device thingy). To date, there is not a single application/feature of the N900 I have not used. Only GPS was the least used in the early days. Now I have a car, so that's also getting very frequent use.
