Then they have to update the license of silica because in the SDK its still BSD license.(Yes I know its not only silica that makes the UI but...
Well, but BSD license basically says you can take it and do whatever you want, right?
With BSD license you can open up everything, but you could also keep it fully closed.

Yes, I see no problem with that license type.

In Jollas case it would be plain stupid to closed source it because its already open. If Jolla decided to close it people would fork current code.

So there is no point for them to do that. But if thirdparty company decide to fork and closed source the changes its up to them because the license works that way. Its same issue with Qt except Qt is using dual license.

But I still wonder what bussines plan Jolla really has? I doubt they'r idea to sell SailfishOS licenses will work for others. Especially if all apps would be open sourced.. Simply because the tech industry still is scared using opensource. Some actually got scared away from Qt also it seems

Thats probadly why Jolla using BSD instead of LGPL2.1. Atleast they may get little better chance to get more companys intrested. But I do think silica will be dual licensed later on. Just let them release device first.

Time-wise.
They're playing it very safe/boring, there's some WP influences, Android, & iOS, little that looks truly original/novel.

Being original and novel for the sake of being original and novel isn't any good. It also has to be productive and intuitive.

Sometimes being "original/novel" can equate with being non-intuitive and non-productive. Take Windows 8 itself, for example. It's so "original" and "novel" that it's not very intuitive (particularly when it's hard to find settings, applications or menus and you can't tell what's clickable and what's just a label) and not productive (particularly where overlapping windows are actually very, very productive for work and multitasking.. worse still is when you switch tasks without intending it with the trackpad and have a hell of a time getting back).

If Jolla is picking out the best features for everyone else, that sounds like a hybrid people might LIKE. I have no problem with that.

I wasn't suggesting that....
And I also wasn't suggesting they've got all the great/original ideas.
They're drawing inspiration from lots of quarters too...
But inspiration mostly, outright carbon copying, less so than others.

FWIW, I actually like the Win_8/RT & WP UX's in many respects.
But I get that many people don't, & the reasons they don't...
I disagree that they're bad UX's, but there's no doubt they're polarising.
Ofc, all that is completely off-topic here....

I was planning to post something great, original and novel. But you might not understand. Don't ignore OS for the sake of it. The winter is coming...

It is hard to accept someone saying Android "multitasking" is better than anything... worse, in a Maemo forum, where we are used to live multitasking on Maemo 5 and MeeGo Harmattan.

Then it might be necessary for you to get over your brand loyalty and understand it better.
