Hi Jer,

no there's not a way of showing only albums.
Embedded album art are "simple" but sometimes problematic (you don't know anything from the file etc) thus sometimes the code can fail. We will improve it over time.. but it will continue to fail when facing odd sizes, and AFAIK we don't support quite well the latest version of ID3 tags (2.4 if I'm not mistaken)

About the 5 minutes : what size of card do you use? and... do you asked canola to "check" whole disk and all 3 medias?

It would speed up a little if you choose only the specific folder for each.

Anyways, What device are you using? Reading from memory still a little slow in the tablets, but I think this will improve!

Handful, I have a n800 and the card is a 16GB SDHC Class 6 card with approx 13GB of music on it so I was not overly bothered with the scan time - I kind of expected it. I am going to play with the album tags tonight to see if I can fix the multiple album entries which are now showing up, not sure why the multiple album fixer does not catch them as it caught and fixed others previously with no problems at all (as far as I know the album tags are all consistent and all tracks for a given album are in the same folder)... Media monkey which organizes tracks by album does not have any issues with them as they are currently tagged...

As far as the embedded images, what is the specification/size/format that canola tuning is looking for?

Also how does canola tuning come up with the album art i.e. does it try and use the embedded album art in the mp3 file, then the folder and if that does not exist does it then try to look up the album on the web? Just curious as I would like to improve its success rate with the album art as when they are populated it looks great!

Also if it looks at the folder for cover art, all of the folders had a folder.jpg file which was stored there by media monkey (media organizing app), does this also have to be a particular size - I had to use images from different sources so some were probably larger than others which may have caused problems...

Finally if all else fails and I have to populate the cover art manually within C2, where is the cover art stored, is there a particular size and format that is required (sorry if you answered this one before)?

Thank you for all the support!

Jeremy.

Sorry missed this question, I have only music on the card so far under one folder called music. There is no other media on the card, I also only configured it to look for music not pictures or videos... Like I said though I copied over 13GB's of music and there were quite a few albums - some with a large number of tracks copied over.

Could C2 have some kind of basic id3 tagging support or a possible plugin which could be used to correct tags in files if the automatic album merge did not correct issues?

Hello

I'm getting a green screen with only the time and Canola (basically, nothing is showing up in the middle of the screen). Canola loads, and sets up the components, then i just get the outside of the screen with nothing in the middle. Anyone have ideas? How do I run from xterm so I can see what's happening? I'm using N770HE version. I followed the directions from the site - I even uninstalled and installed to make sure. Is there any software that I could possibly be missing?

jh

I wonder if Marcelo has started regretting releasing the latest beta of Canola 2 before he and his team were absolutely ready. I, for one, have been fortunate enough to avoid any sort of problem thus far, and have enjoyed improved performance from Canola 2 for it to become my choice as a PMP UI for my N800.

Keep up the good work, Marcelo and INdt team!

If anything it should make him happy - what better than so many people here reporting bugs. I'm sure there are lot's of issues they would have never come across on the few devices they test on...

rjoudrey, yes it would appear that they use device memory - I located the folder and it is here ~/.canola/covers. Although I found another posting on this thread which details an interesting way of having canola detect the art and also move it from your internal memory...

See: http://internettablettalk.com/forums...ad.php?t=13605 (fakebanana's posting)

I will try this later as its a great idea!

Hi guys =)

@ghoonk : I'm not regretted, but a little bit sad. I was writing a post to my blog that talks about that, about the fact that doesn't matter how much effort you put into it... how much careful you are.. theres just so many non-controllable variables, that demands a lot of attention that we are currently not capable.

But then.. I remind of people releasing software, with incredible processes, a lot more of care (of course the sofware are also incredible bigger) and things go wrong!

So now I'm trying not to worry too much myself with that, and focusing on creating solutions. But sometimes.. money and people are needed (to buy more testing devices) we have only one borrowed n810! : / and what I really wanted was to replicate some very complicated devices (like lots of repos, and versions of things) to test even better. But sometimes.. there's no money and time to do that. (actually in brasil is almost impossible to buy the tablets) so we try to bring one or two when we travel abroad.

But in this update one thing made us happy : a lot of people were able to install correctly. And we did a lot of testing with differetn setups and it was perfect. What failed was those very complex use cases, (and they are in huge numbers) that we still don't know how to deal perfectly with... but we will improve. And in the end.. this is the BEST way ever to find bugs, you guys really put it to prove.

And other thing : I think the relationship between you guys and us the team, is just getting better and better... and even trolls are staying out of the threads. Come one... I do accept critics, and make what is possible to improve them... but trolls sucks when they just come to demolish you. I can deal with them... but now I see that people here are really more into "let the guys to their work, and let's see where we can go".

Closing : I think it's become clear our way of working : we say what we will do, we do a little more, we talk, we release it, we listen, we improve.. we release.. and this is not slow was the first canola. This was the reason...we wanted to be able to release fast! and now... in 1 week, we have youtube working.. it's looking nice.. it will be criticized of course (I think mplayer is not letting us seek or buffering the move) people will ask to be able to download (but we will not put in first version because downloads are becoming evil...) and we are studing a way of streaming while saving.. thus you can just Ï want to save" but in the begging I think it will be a good test. Also I have plans for a audiobook plugin (with bookmarks) the last.fm scrobble is also coming, zooming in pictures, browse by folder.. third party plugin support...all of this in 3-4 weeks =)
