A while ago I asked GeneralAntilles if he could help out, but it seems he's pretty busy, not even allowing MWKN weekly releases. That's a pity since I'd really appreciate to have him "on board" (seems his "life with and among books" gives him some unique superpowers )

I nearly forgot to ask... If I donate several times before the product comes to fruition, may I count all individual donation towards a single item purchase? Presumably with different rebate coefficient based on the donation date but that is a detail.

Basically it boils down to whether the orders and rebates will be processed manually or automatically, since in the latter case, the system may need to be ready for such cases.

However in http://neo900.org/#donate I see EUR 3600.

This:
Code:
valS = val%1000 + ((val%1000 < 100) ? "0" : "") + ((val%1000 < 10) ? "0" : "");
Looks very buggy. I would simply remove the space, i.e. valS = "" + val and let it be. After all, a number is a number is a number..
Here comes coding at night in hurry with not enough testing. Very stupid bugs in this pretty simple code... Sorry about that It's fixed now.

As a "recompensation" I just added automatic update of the progress bar on every minute, so one can watch the progress without refreshing constantly

The automatism on webshop is built in a way that it counts one donation per one item to rebate. I guess we can do manual processing in case customer wants to do things like the requested splitting. Given not everybody is doing this and we'd need to process 1000s of such donations manually. Since we even offer built-to-order devices (different modem options etc) I don't expect too much trouble. But in the end not my call to decide. What for sure won't work is summing up small donations to a 1500EUR proto perk, since that is meant explicitly for donors doing one huge donation.

cheers

Hi, I'm neither a native speaker nor a "writer" either but here is my shot at it:

Golden Delicious Computers (creators of OpenPhoenux / GTA04 openmoko replacement board) is announcing a fundraiser to produce first prototypes and kickstart mass production of the Neo900 open smartphone. Based on the electronics of the GTA04 open smartphone platform, the Neo900 will reuse the Nokia N900 case but contain a motherboard with a faster CPU, more RAM, an LTE modem and other additions when compared to the original Nokia N900 smartphone. In the Openmoko spirit the device will be fully hackable, supporting QtMoko, SHR, Debian, Replicant and any other operating system ported to it like Maemo, Ubuntu or Firefox OS. Visit http://neo900.org/specs for more detailed specifications or http://neo900.org/faq for a general FAQ.
Here is a video presenting the idea: http://youtu.be/EJHMXQ3nSt0
If your donation is above 100 eur, then that amount will be deducted from your purchase of the final version of the Neo900. The final device (complete phone) is expected to be in the range of 500-700 eur.
Feel free to use this text in any way you like. I was just about to post that story to slashdot but would rather like if you could approve of the wording first.

The estimated 500-700EUR are for the board, not for the whole device.
(price of motherboard w/o case expected to be in the 500-700 EUR range, depending mainly on number of orders)
for the rest it looks OK.

Many thanks

It doesn't work. I've tried the donation using Portugal as country and my Brazilian address, but the VISA payment is not approved due to wrong address.

Yes, sorry for incorrect advice. I just learned the shop has an online address verification to avoid fraud. So your destination is relevant. Please contact Nikolaus ( info AT goldelico DOT com; subj reference: "Neo900 donation from 'other destination' " ) for instructions how to proceed.

Sorry for the inconvenience,
cheers

The shop does not process paypal, only credit cards, so I probably won't be able to buy a neo900 (at least if it will be available ONLY at here)
