If you want trade features to the speed, check Dillo browser. It is now in extras-devel, under name dillo

Read more on upstream: http://www.dillo.org/

Package is optified, it supports SSL (https), doesn't contain any touch screen optimisations. If you haven't used Dillo before, beware: it doesn't have everything you might expect for web browser (javascript, flash, frames...) but it is fast.

Here is a video comparing Dillo and Fennec: http://youtu.be/v2jH_PXeA2A

User manual: http://www.dillo.org/dillo3-help.html
-------
For developers: source package contains fltk sources (gui-toolkit) and it is statically compiled inside Dillo (this is default for Dillo and I haven't changed it).

As you see in user manual (or if you test it) it should be more touch screen friendly. Now there is need for middle mouse button and so on. If you modify it, send patches to me and I will make new release.

There were one patch needed. Maemo have too old libssl and I must drop this setting: SSL_OP_NO_COMPRESSION . I have no idea how much this weakens ssl/https.

Hi, I seem to have problems with saving Dillo config - when I set the panel to tiny it is back to default on next startup. Any ideas? Thanks.

Hi!

Try to set your desired config in dillo's config file - as I remember it is in /home/user/.dillo.

Something I have not noticed in my years with a N900!
Going to see how it works on modern websites vs microB and Opera which drag badly and fail to load many sites at all.(edit) already seeing bad weakness with non-roman letters, definitely not optimized to a touch screen. Reminds me of running firefox with noscript turned on to max security and no exceptions.
