I suspect there won't be that long to wait for a more definitive response. It looks like there has been a flurry of activity in time for Slush 2013. I'd guess that they are saving their answers for that event.

@DJJonosound
The quote of working in six continents seems to say us Australians will be able to use jolla, there are 7 continents but I don't think Antarctica would have been somewhere with a large user base

6 continents (in alphabetical order): Africa, America, Antarctica, Asia, Europe, Oceania (also known as Australasia)

Or maybe America is split into South and North? Or maybe into South, Central and North? Or maybe India is a continent? Or maybe Antarctica is not a continent? Or maybe we should open another thread to discuss how to split the world? Or even better: Jolla should deliver a list of countries and be done with it ;-)

Some of our vendors use different bands, so it may be useable on 1 carrier in Australia :P

I'm sure somebody will do the homework of finding out the compatibility with a few countries... it used to be with GSM frequency matching, it may be more complex nowadays, but nothing that some SoC research + wikipedia 3G/4G/LTE research won't uncover. It'll probably be more difficult to find out exactly the protocol specification of local carriers (as they won't tell).

India is part of Asia... Google returned this result, North America, South America, Asia, Europe, Africa, Antarctica, and Australia.

Gmaps still has it's strengths (as does HERE), it's def. better in some respects, but we digress, does the site look partly broken or unfinished to anyone else?

Not wanting to start an argument, I agree that Jolla should just say which countries/continents well be supported

I have carrier specs, I need Jolla specs
I am currently on Optus, so there are a few grey areas for me:
Australian 2G bands:
900Mhz (Telstra, Optus & Vodafone)
1800Mhz (Telstra, Optus & Vodafone)
Australian 3G bands:
850MHz (Telstra, Vodafone) – Exclusive 3G band
900MHz (Optus, Vodafone) – available in most metro areas on Optus, with both Optus and Vodafone re-farming the 2G 900 spectrum in regional and rural areas
2100MHz (Telstra, Optus, Vodafone) – Exclusive 3G band
Australian 4G bands:
2100Mhz (B1) FDD (0000000000000001) – Telstra (3G spectrum)
1800Mhz (B3) FDD (0000000000000004) – Telstra, Optus, Vodafone
900Mhz (B8) FDD (0000000000000080) – Telstra, Vodafone?, Optus (utilises spectrum previously used by 2G)
2300Mhz (B40) TDD (0000008000000000) – Optus (Vivid wireless spectrum)
Thanks to whirlpool forums.
