To those that got invitation and responded to it: did you receive any immediate confirmation through email?

I know that they say that further info will be sent on 20th, but I would have personally liked an immediate confirmation that my invite response did come through.

We have gone this before, but Jolla selecting IPS over AMOLED being a mistake is subjective. I prefer great IPS screen over a great AMOLED screen. Will the quality be great is a another thing.

I also suspect Jolla selecting IPS or AMOLED probably wasn't a choice that was given to them. AMOLED screen market is controlled by couple of manufacturers and small Jolla has absolutely no leverage there with their 50 000 first order, or whatever contract they would have been ready to make.

Nice to see such many open spots. I would not mind to work there after my studies are over in couple of years.



I'm btw starting to get a bit hyped. Not lurking over here has helped a lot compared to waiting N900, RM-860 and N9. Waiting for those 3 felt like ages.

Doesn't Lumia 920 have lock screen clock and doesn't it use the same kind of screen as Jolla?

what does

9 / 10 hours (GSM / 3G) mean?

Does it mean they rang someone and left the call on till the battery ran out of juice and that was 9/10 hours?

Or did they leave a heavy webpage to refresh for hours on end till the phone ran out of juice?

But these values doesn't mean a ****. Since they are in a controlled environment and phone can be set up in a specific way.

But I guess it's better than nothing. All venders have their own values

Seems it is so. According to gsmarena Lumia has Ips display and it has possibility to add clock on lock screen.

On the topic of LPM/LPS - having an LCD display completely contradicts the idea of Low Power Mode. Real low power is possible only on displays that have each pixel emitting the light by itself. All LCD rely on back lighting which can be only ON or OFF for the ENTIRE screen. I haven't heard of phone displays implementation of Local dimming as on some (quite expensive!)TV sets. So yes, having the clock and notifications etc. always on is possible on LCD screen, but battery drain will be nowhere near the LPM on AMOLEDs. It just do not make sense on LCDs.
