Hi,

I just noticed that the temp I got from Openweathermap in MeeCast seems much too high. Reported temp is 45F, and it should be about 32F. I checked the openweathermap site, and current temp is 0.7C. I think MeeCast is reading that as "7C" (ignoring the decimal point) and converting it to 45F. To double check, I switched to Celsius in MeeCast and the temp is reported as 7C. So it's not a conversion error. Openweathermap threw a curve ball by reporting temp in fractional degrees.

This is MeeCast 0.7.9 that I'm using.

Rob

ed: updated to 0.8.0, since I saw that was out. Maybe problem is with openweathermap.org itself, not Meecast. Now I see temp on their website is not 0.7C (which was probably right) and is 7.04C which is wrong. I'll keep looking at this, but for now it doesn't seem like a MeeCast bug after all.

Can we switch to this for the default weather for Melbourne?
Thanks.
Ok. It will be available in the version 0.8.1.

I too experience this behaviour here in Melbourne (+10), adelaide (+9.5) and perth (+ using mostly weather.com....
My guess is that this is due to timezone conversion, either the data arriving from source without tz data or newscast doing the check in gmt...

If I want a fresh install of Meecast, would emptying:

Code:
/home/user/.cache/com.meecast.omweather
/home/user/.config/com.meecast.omweather
and removing the install deb be enough?

Hi Vlad,
Checking the Melb Olympic Park observations against the published data on the http://www.bom.gov.au/products/IDV60...01.95936.shtml site it seems the meecast data does not match. Windspeed, direction, pressure are all slightly incorrect. Can you check these against published data when you have time?

Thanks again for you work implementing the new observation point!

Stupid user error. I removed MeeCast installed from Store and enabled a new repo using Warehouse. meecast-applet-enabler was also uninstalled. I reinstalled Meecast, but got
Code:
mv: can't rename '/usr/share/meegotouch/applicationextensions/events-weather.desktop': No such file or directory
mv: can't rename '/usr/share/meegotouch/applicationextensions/events-weather.desktop.old': No such file or directory
I created those files using this and and had no problems with reinstallation. Unfortunately I still haven't got the applet on top of home screen even after reboot.

If I followed minimos' instructions
Code:
dpkg --ignore-depends=meecast-applet-enable -r meecast
this wouldn't have happened.
Question is: How to get the applet back?

I assume this will happen to other people as well after Store stops giving us updates.

As Vlad is the maintainer for the meecast-applet-enable package, maybe he should publish it on Warehouse as well?

Did you remove Melbourne after installing the latest version of MeeCast?
