I'm waiting for news about my shipment or installer or steps for android.

Please define news, level of news. TMO is not that great to be on topic. And I'm always blamed for it.

Lets make this thread our "announce" thread, & the one linked above our "general digest".
Or vice versa, I'm easy either way but the headings will need to be modified.
I was thinking of this recently and thought that maybe the JollaLoveDay thread could be renamed to "General Jolla Discussion". But then again if it was named like that it overlaps with this thread so much that I consider them to be inpractical if separate (and your thread). The thing is that news always sparkle 'general discussion'. Maybe name some thread "Jolla News & Other Discussion"? ...It could be possible to make one thread to which the news are posted and another for them to be discussed & another one for general discussion... which I see as being unpractical because they overlap with eachother... But maybe it's a personal preference.

I wouldn't mind news & general discussion being in the same thread, but maybe that's just me...

Optima Service and Jolla join forces
http://optimaservice.fi/en/optima-se...join-forces-2/

"Optima Service and Jolla have entered a collaboration agreement on Jolla smartphone maintenance services. Collaboration will begin immediately."

I believe this forum has the ability to have "announce" threads, where only users with privileges can post.
Folks can PM (or whatever other means maemo.org offers) or contact outside maemo.org new info. they find to that maintainer (or maintainers), who can post that new snippet.
Doesn't take a huge amount of time, just need confirmation that it's do-able & a person (or persons) willing to do it.

Then we can have sep. "general digest" thread, although (like you) I'm in two minds about their separation.
In some ways I think it makes more sense that they're one & the same, but ggabriel made a good point about why maybe it's best that they're not.

ok, so I have no problems with news+analysis, analysis being some of us commenting "oh, this implies this, this can be inferred because of that" and all that. What I find counter productive is never-ending-venting, even though I am totally with the folks that get annoyed with Jolla.

To your other point about limiting the posts to just news, I think that'd be great for something that will last at least a couple of months... not sure this will, but I am not exactly Nostradamus to judge the future.

On the other hand, if we can't resist the OT posts, then we kind of deserve a mixed thread ;-) At the end of the day, news get repeated, republished, retweeted, re-diaspora'd. I haven't bumped into any piece a news only once, well, except for jollausers.com that actually based their article on another article, so technically it's a dupe but worded differently.

FWIW, repost from the user experience thread: http://optimaservice.fi/en/optima-se...join-forces-2/

edit: and some analysis too, why not? :-) I think this is great news, especially because Jolla is extremelly small, and they are thinking about the full circle. In contrast, the fruity company still asks you to book an appointment for the next decade so that they can teach you to use the music player - they do trust the operators to help their users a lot, so it's great to have something that works a bit more globally.

I'm optimistic, this kind of news sound to me like the Jolla folks actually have experience doing their job.

Hmmm... If Off-the-topic general venting is the problem, maybe we should just use the report-button ;-) This way news-thread will continue being news-thread without the need for another thread. And non-EU people already have "Waiting room for non-EU pre-orders" for venting.

And I'll promise to start using the report button in these forums, especially in the threads I've started.
Deal?

Now this thread has gone full meta. We should all report all of our own posts and start again.

Sarcasm aside, I will attempt to help, in that I will not post any further "outside EU" discussion in this thread, unless I have actual news to report (which seems unlikely).
