However, I have seen several stupid answers. Here are a few more

There are several ways to accomplish this task, depending on skill level and time you want to spend learning.

The easiest way to to plug the 770 into the usb port on your laptop, this will give you the mmc card available at 64MB if you have not altered anything, it will show up normally like any other memory stick in windows.

You can install ftp client on the 770, and ftp the files, you can install ssh and use scp to copy the files. You can install portmapper and use nfs to mount your laptop, if you were running linux, or cygwin on windows. There are tons of ways to do this, web server on the laptop use the browser on 770 to save the files. If your laptop accepts MMC, you could use the memory card directly in the laptop to place the files.

take your pick!!

Again, the easiest way for you to do this would probably be by connecting the usb cable that came with the 770 to the dell. Doing this will allow you to use explorer to copy and paste into the memory on the 770.

I tried dragging a song to the memory card; it states unknown file on the 770.

What's the filetype of the song? .wma (Windows Media Audio) isn't supported as it's proprietary to Microsoft.

A complete list of supported audio/video types (and associated extensions) can be seen here:
