Indeed, it's not in the big OS partition that gets flashed, that's why i had to do all this

I accidentally locked my device and didn't know the lock code. I ended up reflashing the device to get it unlocked and then I was able to find the lock code in /dev/mtd1.

I find it ridiculous that it is that difficult to recover a forgotten lock code - the fact is that having the lock code this protected isn't going to make the device less likely to be stolen - it is only going to make it difficult for users like me who accidentally hit lock device when trying to turn it off. Now I am off to figure out how to remove "Lock Device" from the power menu as I never use it and I don't want to do this again by mistake.

Edit /etc/systemui/systemui.xml as root

Noob here I also bought a 770 off ebay but until recently had problems with connectivity so I wanted to return to default and I dont have the lock code. I am not familiar with linux, so is there any tutorial on how to get into the "/dev/mtd.." and what to do with it? I am pissed I did not know about it beforehand... Thanks in advance!
