I think you need to add the "default" maemo repository (URL "http://repository.maemo.org/", not extras). I don't know why it isn't already set up on the default firmware. Here are the details:

Web address: http://repository.maemo.org/
Distribution: bora (or "gregale" for 770 users)
Components: free non-free

Alternatively, you can just install GDBM manually via this link into the repository:

libgdbm3 for gregale (770)
libgdbm3 for bora (N800)

I've uploaded libgdbm3 to the gregale and bora extras repositories, so as soon as they're updated, you won't need this extra step - the .install file should grab the libgdbm3 dependency automatically.

P.S. I really hate Maemo's repository situation.

Hi,
finally installed maemo mapper (bora) from install OS2007HE.
It works fine but hangs on if I move and zoom in/out a map at the same time ( OpenStreet Maps).

But I try to connect gps.
gps enabled, searching for GPS receiver
and not connected

from Settings
I can select Bluetooth and scan for a gps device, and select
a gps device
than OK

there is ( ) File Path /dev/pgps

and GPSD Host 127.0.0.1 port 2947

Searching for GPS receiver I see bluetooth icon
and blue led on on gps device

and still
Error connecting to GPSD server
Retry ?
OK Cancel

What's wrong with GPSD server ?
It was ok with OS2006.

Not sure if it was not fixed in later HE versions but this was/is known problem. You need recompiled gpsd, the one in HE crashes (possibly because of being compiled for newer CPU in N8x0). This is mentioned in one (or several) of threads about HE, with link to recompiled package. Sorry don't have direct link.
