Guys, can someone write a full guide how to fix? Full actions, full commands, maybe screenshots also? It can help to many people instead search on different threads and many topics and asking the same questions again and again...

windoze is not good with usb networking, but it can work I believe, if you manually use drivers MS RNDIS which should be available standard, but you need to manually, in device manager, install these drivers for Jolla device.

The old N900 method using libusb drivers works fine for Jolla, too.

  • Download libusb-win32-bin-1.2.x.x.zip - http://sourceforge.net/projects/libusb-win32/
  • Connect Jolla to PC.
  • Run inf-wizard.exe (bin folder in zip) - Run as Administrator
  • Press "Next"
  • Search in list and select "CDC OBEX Data"
  • Press "Next"
  • Press "Next"
  • Save .inf file
  • Press "Install Now"
  • Press "Install this driver software anyway" on warning message.
  • You should get "Installation successful." and press OK.
  • Repeat for all other missing drivers... (SYNCML-SYNC, PC Suite Services, etc...)
  • Check Windows Device Manager for "libusb-win32 devices", expand and verify all of your Jolla devices can be found.

I found that driver in the lists under network adapters/microsoft corporation but it refused to install for the Jolla device

Thanks for that but not much joy. There's only one relevant device in the list called sailfish. I installed this driver foe that device anyway but still couldn't Telnet to the phone. Perhaps its something to do with my network settings?

i've installed a Ubuntu VM and followed many of the instructions on this thread http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?t=92119 still cant Telnet to device. A clear step by step tutorial would be good for us dummies.

I get this in Ubuntu
dave@dave-VirtualBox:~$ sudo ifconfig eth2 192.168.2.14
[sudo] password for dave:
SIOCSIFADDR: No such device
eth2: ERROR while getting interface flags: No such device
dave@dave-VirtualBox:~$

Based on what nieldk said, I installed the appropriate driver following these instructions.

Then, using PuTTY, I was able to Telnet the Jolla, on my laptop BTW.

This is for Windows, of course.
