Canola2 beta 1 worked fine for me but in the interest in fixing bugs that I never saw I upgraded to beta 2 and beta 3. I've not been able to use it sice beta 1. When I try to view photos or videos I get a message saying - No items found. I uninstalled and deleted the .canola diectory and reinstalled. After leaving it on that screen for a wwhile as one person suggested I can now see some phootos but only a few have thumbs. I still cannot see any videos.

I started canola2 beta3 from the terminal with two verbose flags and here's the output.......

Hi,

Can you please inform us the followin :

1) are you folders with media already "checked" (small V) to scan for media? when you upgrade I think this is lost so you need to set it again

2) did you reboot the device when doing the upgrades? most of the critical components needs to be safely restarted before canola can run again... this sometimes helps

3) if this doesn't help can you try doing the clean unninstall and then install again from the website already in beta3 to see if the problems persists?

Could you please follow the steps below and send us the result ? (run every command from the terminal)

1 - canolad stop
2 - canolad start -vvv --logfile=log.txt
3 - canola -vvv

And then please send the log.txt file and the output from canola -vvv (three level of verbose).

Ok, there's the problem - I feel like an idiot. I guess I've been programming for too long. Checking off entries seems like a disable function when in fact it's an enable function. I don't remember it being like this before. So by default it scans nowhere and you have to add the check to check them off in order for it to scan them.

It's definately my fault but maybe a different graphic is in order. It just seems like the open eye icon would have Canola look there and checking the open eye disable it. Didn't it used to be the other way? Wasn't there a line through the eye if you disabled it or am I thinking of something else?

It's not your fault 2 times

1) because you shouldn't need to do this at all at least if you don't bother with everything being scanned

2) yes we did changed it, to 3 states to only 2, but indeed is confusing as far as I can tell.

So actually gathering data from you and the others, we still need to improve the semiotic there.. to give the right notion (not scanned / scanned) or better "not watched" watched) I think only the V will be a better guess.
