i dont think anythimg bad gona happen to your n900 after updating to latest thumb oth it should be the first thing to do on a fresh n900 .just backup in case and flashfiles are available in the web
I have same phone from Hong Kong that claims to be made in Finland. As far as I understand, it has a genuine Nokia N900 motherboard, maybe repaired, maybe not. Other parts may be either original used either new non-original, most case parts are new. My phone has a dead pixel, which was partially refunded by seller. After flashing PR1.3 it works great. I suggest that you contact seller immediately for partial refund if you didn't yet. Also don't remove protective cover from screen, it's very hard to reapply it well again and this phone really needs it.
