The alarms have been going off on mortgaging our future for 34 years now.
It was the 80's when it was widely stated and we were supposed to do something about it then....we most obviously dipping into the planets critical reserves it uses to provide and sustain us way back then.
Now...fabricated crisis and truly non-relevant and meaningless conflicts (looking objectively at the big picture..that is...) , shortened attention spans, and poor education of the populations have made this the dark joke waiting .... chain eco-biospheres collapsing isn't far away.
Just take 1 critical hinge...the bee.
Between over-extending suburbs into wild ares, a parasite and neotins (we use on seed for crops... to stop pests eating them...it has easily inserted itself damagingly into the bee pops.) unfortunately the U.S. gov't has stated that bee pops. as a species aren't sustainable...instead of immediate cessation of urban sprawl...instead of focusing all the science we have to combat the bee parasite...instead of immediate banning and cessation of use of neotins...we are giving up on our best friends and our future ...by working on construction of a synthetic drone bee to pollinate ....at an even more atrocious cost ....and it also begs the question...what will get pollinated? Only what the companies wish.
We are very screwed.

I agree with you...the whole "we create our own demons" concept is indeed valid. Sadly the imagery of the words "create" and "demons" have the underlying implications that it is illusory and fabricated. As well there is the implied concept that the situation is a closed loop...whereas the reality is that the multitudinous number of demons (knowingly or unknowingly created) have been converging....en masse...so thick there isn't space to see past them as they approach... to a central foci ....or a singularity of sorts....indeed Dave...your final countdown will be epic.
But enough of the gloom...
