This is probably a newbie question.

My school's campus-wide wifi is protected with a cisco VPN software solution, which all users need to install on their laptops and log unto before they can get online.

Does anyone know if there's any compatible VPN software for the 770?

There are a variety of VPN solutions listed on the ApplicationCatalog and ApplicationCatalogWip.

That's true, but I would like to add that, as far as I know, that variety comprises only two alternatives (OpenVPN and VPNC), of which only one works with the Cisco implementation.

OpenVPN is not even intended to work with the Cisco VPN server (which uses IPSec), but rather with its own server software, so it's only useful if it's installed both in the server and in the client (tablet), which is most likely not the case:

The other is VPNC, listed in the section "Unmaintained Or Unknown Development Status" in the ApplicationCatalogWip page. I use it regularly in my campus network, which runs on a Cisco server (we too are told to install the Cisco client).
I followed the instructions in the page of the Maemo port, and it works quite fine. I had to copy several files around, gain root, etc. but it now works by first starting the wireless connection from the widget at the top of the screen (as usual), selecting the University's network, and after that is stablished (the "W" stops blinking) starting the VPN client from the "Extras" menu.

There's also a PPTP VPN solution for those requiring a Microsoft-based solution. I haven't tested it with our work VPN, though.

I am also interested in a VPN solution for the 770 that can access a Cisco WiFi network that relies on the LEAP authentication scheme. If anyone knows of something (that is easy to install...in other words, does not require root access) please let me know.

Where could I find the PPTP software? I've been looking for a VPN solution for quite some time...
