Hi, I am selling my good old N900. It has been working flawlessly for many years, but lately developed difficulties with reading my SIM card. Not sure if it is hardware or software related. All other functions are working 100%. Understandably, given its age, the screen has some scratches.

Asking US$ 50 + shipping costs.

Sadly, the former. It's well known problem, and 2nd most "popular" one, after USB port issue.

Do you have any suggestions on what to do about it?

(This case highlights the importance of using descriptive thread titles. I found it only because I knew I posted it. Had abdel_95 used a proper thread title, other users could have found it too.)

Depends on the severity of the issue.

I have one that gives the error during startup: all telephone functions disabled and I suppose the SIM card / GSM part can't be found during boot.

The less severe issue, what I would describe as "issues to read the SIM card", I was able to solve by sticking 3 layers of tape on top of the SIM lid.
This applies more pressure on the SIM compartment.

Will update once received, so the thread can be closed. I secretly hope Mentalist Traceur stumbles upon this thread.
