Ohhh...I wouldn't say I'm a machine. Not yet...

Do you see the difference ?

The IA might come in shape of a "mind" or a brain bug like in starship troopers . But its soldiers will be the machines we built an connected somehow. An the question is, can it write its own code, do it need humans to write it for it or do it just follow algorithms... or how does it become smarter or more aware?

I dont think an AI could be self aware in the sence. The code must tell IT to be. The question is when that happen, can IT make decisions without its "code base"...if not its just a program

Creation Internet is step 1 for world dominantion of machines.
Step2 connect more and more crucial system and services.
Step3 AI...
Step 4 still unknown.

We are still in step 1 and just started on step 2. Soon our houses Will have constant interaction with the NET. All machines, heat, lights, water, freezer and car...

Super-intelligence? Don't make laugh. Current software can't even install painlessly (or, in some cases, do cut&paste )). We are indeed a long way from viable, reliable technology, let alone intelligent one.

Here's an idea. I am putting it in the public domain even though I feel it should be patented. Current networks work on the base of a computer equivalent of a name. Only instead of "hey, Fred", computers would say "hey, 192.168.1.204". The problem with that is that the computer needs to know the other computer's name (number). Even when it knows the name, it still talks to everyone, tagging every word with the target computer's name and the other computers just kindly choose to ignore it.

What I am proposing is a method to address the computers on the network based on their location: "hey cutie, yes, you third from the left in the second row". Once the target machine answers, the two strike a one-to-one communication, like two people in a crowded room where you can have a number of such communications going on simultaneously. The current network protocols only create an illusion of multiple simultaneous communications, but in reality they are all of the kind of, "everyone shut up, I am talking to Fred", followed quickly by John shouting, "everyone shut up, I am talking to Mary". My method allows me to talk to Fred while John talks to Mary truly at the same time.

That used to be so in the eighties. It was called CSMA on ethernet and token passing on token rings.
However now all LAN's are switched with enough backplane capacity and it does not apply any longer. (unless you are still running on 10Base2 coax or TP with hubs?? )

One exception though, WLAN's are still running a kind of CSMA which explains why lots of terminals on same segment starve down bandwidth pretty quickly

I know, I just didn't want to go too technical on the likes of Dave

I haven't figured out yet how to scale my brave new network. I mean, Fred in London talking to Mary in New York whilst at the same time Masayoshi in Tokio talks to Fatima in Baghdad - that's easy, that works now already. I am thinking more about when things are just beyond the line of sight, like Fred in sector B4 on the second floor talking to that cutie in C9 on the third (without knowing her name), that kind of thing.

Orion launched to space. Now it´s only 16 years until NASA plan to man it with humans(or machines) and land on Mars. Who will handle the countdown?
