I'm trying to package a newer ffmpeg to enable movies in corsixth, initially via static linking. its a long way off being usable yet, need to fix internal depenencies and test. i'm not even sure if it's in vain yet as there is a problem with gcc 4.2.* that causes issues with h264 vids, just hoping my configure flags have got round the issue.

gst-ffmpeg and gst-av use it. whether it will fix some of the corrupt video playback (certain cutetube results play at an angle, search in thread for examples) remains to be seen.

One request concerning status-area-applet-battery.
It would be great to have to possibility to exec a custom application selecting the battery entry in the status menu.
The idea is to exec battery-eye, battery-graph or bnf directly from there to obtain more details about battery life.

CSSU be deemed as a seperate OS and a CSSU section in the TMO. A seperate section will make things a lot easier.

it would be cool to completely redo the interface and standard applications that wish they looked more modern

I for one prefer the UI as it is. You have a plethora of choice if you want 'modern'. Maemo is better than that. It is usable.

Or maybe not. But once it is relieved from all the proprietary stuff, there should be another section.

BTW, what I want for now on CSSU:

1. A better browser with rich HTML5 support.

2. A patch in the App. Manager to make it fast. Or another alternative.

3. Integrate the 720p playback trick in CSSU.

4. Replace Media Player with OMP (though I suppose it is being worked on).

5. here Maps (if possible).

Most of your suggestions don't come under the CSSU bracket and would be supplied via extras.

1) Hopefully qml-browser can do that
2) There are patches in testing for that
3) Probably best if this wasn't installed on all devices.
4) OMP can be made into the default player (details on the wiki page)
5) This would be Extras there are a few mapping alternatives including modRana.

Okay! Someone enlighten me up, please. What is the actual goal of CSSU for now. Is it just providing bugfixes for Fremantle? As far as I know, it has evolved into something much bigger than that now. It is fixing its own bugs now.
