My beloved N900 is showing its age and the lower left part of the touch screen does not always work properly, especially when the phone gets colder that room temperature.

One thing I love about the N900, besides the keyboard, is the seamless SIP integration into the dial app.

How does SIP work on a Jolla?

I don't expect much of a phone, just the normal stuff that probably everyone else expects on today's smartphones, like SSH server+client, OpenVPN, some programming languages and a decent web browser.

Email (IMAP + SMTP) would be nice also.

thanks,
spag

Here's quite a nice sum up. A dialpad integration was shown in one of the early videos of the system, but has not seen the light of the day yet.

All of this is supported well on Jolla.

So if I were you, I would wait to see how the TOHKBD turns out and if it works well, I'd go for Jolla+TOHKBD.

Wait for Jolla next phone. Coming later this year. Right now Jolla can't be trusted so I suggest looking elsewhere right now.

Ok, another suggestion.

Don't listen to Dave in this regard (who is disappointed by Jolla Tablet not supporting 3G). There's no point in waiting for "Jolla 2" - the current Jolla hardware works perfectly fine (even though N900's camera is much better - but again, there's never gonna be a device like the N900) and the only thing you would get from getting "Jolla 2" would be the likely incompatibility with TOHKBD.

And again, if everyone waits for "Jolla 2", there isn't gonna be any "Jolla 2"

Am in the same boat , and I want to get Jolla but I want to get the next model.

I keep waiting out for news on Jolla2, but as nodevel says, it's only the tablet that's being discussed right now and the next phone is nothing but a rumour.

So I'm twiddling my thumbs on deciding on whether to go for Jolla and TOHKBD, or just wait and wait and wait and wait.

I'm coping fairly well without a smartphone to be honest

@spag

NOTHING can substitute substitute N900!

Get yourself another used one, if you like SIP, text-editing capable and user-agent-changeable browser, lots of packages, ...

Get the Jolla if you like something new, a beta (PR1.0) OS, something more-future-proven maybe,...

I am ambivalent but for sure will never let go of my N9x0s.

Not really helpful, hmm?
