Hi

I've uploaded the new version of MeeCast for Harmattan (0.9.17) to Openrepos https://openrepos.net/content/vasvlad/meecast

Hi Vlad, just wondering if you are thinking of looking at this issue?

If it's not a big secret, it would help to know at least which providers...

1. yr.no. it can recognise a bunch of extra places, but sadly it's dead. i tested a few locations and the application cannot check them just hanging.

2. bom.gov.au is buggy like this:

3. openweathermap.org usually not respond or slow as hell.

my internet connection is stable. i used wifi while test. i tested bigger cities (for example London) and a lot of locations in my country (Hungary). a bunch of places are in wrong region/county. there is also a lot of mistypes and grammatical corrections would be good too. i would like to fix my country's locations and i would do some translation work if possible.

openweathermap in the US isn't a good source for meecast for several reasons. First, the only locations are the county seats, and some counties are quite large, so your location may be experiencing significantly different weather.

Secondly, the reported current temperature can be entirely wrong. I wondered if meecast had thought it was getting temp in C when source was deluvering F and an inappropriate conversion was applied - or vice versa. Of course it could be the source info is simply incorrect.

At any rate, openweathermap is much worse choice than weather.com

Vlad.

P.S. But I don't have any free time to develop MeeCast for old platforms (Such as Nokia N9)
My 2 thoughts about this:

OMWeather's behavior on N900 when current conditions stale is to show the forecast high/low for the day instead of current temp, and this lets me know at a glance that the data is old but still showing me daily dabeingta. I find this effective.

Harmattan email client puts a red down arrow in the notifications area when it fails to retrieve data, meecast might do this as well.
