Didn't see a post about this yet so...

Dealextreme has the Razr2 V8 data cable available for 2.40$ USD shipped. I've heard that they use the micro usb cable so I ordered one and have managed to flash my n810 without any problems with it.

Cable is here: http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.8150

YMMV.

Ordered a second spare for myself and I think I'll splice it to a standard micro-b usb cable so I don't have to deal with gender changers and other finagliness.

Lucky you, I was shipped a miniUSB cable instead of a microUSB cable. YMMV, you can say that again.

I ordered 3 of the CA-101 Compatible USB Charging and Data Cable for Nokia Phones so far one works partially, one give me an error "an unknown device has exceeded the current limit of its hub port" on my Win2000 pc and no connection or error on my XP laptop. I have not tried the third yet on both machines.

Right now I'm afraid to try and flash my machine for fear it will hang half way thru.

/edit - Note that the picture shows the little plastic clip/cord holder which is not on the ones I got.

Got one from them too and it works with no problem. It is just a cable, it either works or not. No electronics inside. Issues you describe may not be related to cable. Try original one in same situation, you may have same issue. BTW, I wonder what 'works partially' means :-)

Reaching the current limit of your USB hub isn't the cables fault, unless the cable has a short in it. Plug the cable into your USB hub, but not to the Nokia. If you don't get the current limit error, chances are very good the cable is fine.

Works partially - plug it in to XP, usb device has an error, plug it in again it's recognized.
Original one WORKED with no problem, but is lost.

Within 12 hours of contacting DX and sending them pictures of the incorrect cable, DX admitted their error and is sending me the proper cable. Good service and great prices so far.
