I would also like to know this. An equalizer would be terrific.

I'd like to know as well.

I think I remember seeing someone in the "post your desktop screenshots" thread that had a really awesome equalizer.

I never bothered to post and see what that was though.

Oh, and does anyone have some really bad static feedback on the right side of their speaker when playing music or sound files fairly loud?

I'm thinking that there might be something very tiny and small that's wrong with mine.

XMMS music player has an equalizer that if i recall correctly applies to mp3 and ogg files. This is because it's easy to adjust EQ of mp3 and OGG without degrading the sound or taxing the cpu.

On distortion - My N810 started out with really nasty distortion but now i can't hear any. Crystal clear and very loud! Either the speakers needed breaking-in, or i changed something while i was mucking about with the sound daemon.

Try playing back audio from various software and see if it's just related to the default player. The default player on my n810 is very quiet and fuzzy.

Yeah, now that you mention it, fuzziness is the best way to explain my speaker behavior.

Okay, I'll look around for a better default player then. I thought maybe I either had a slightly loose connection on one of my speakers or all of the years of systematic abuse I've done to my body through excessive frat parties somehow caused the weird noise static.

Thanks Arnim!

Yeah... XMMS is the only player that has an EQ. I use every single day and it ROCKS!! Although, be aware that the EQ doesn't function for oggs There is an additional EQ that be downloaded to use with ogg files but it uses quite a bit of CPU to run. The builtin XMMS EQ uses minimal CPU. XMMS is IMHO the best music player (playlists, presets, EQ, skins) The only thing it doesn't give you is album covers.

get more info and links for xmms here: http://www.internettablettalk.com/fo...highlight=xmms
