dont know why, but i had my twitter account in the device and it worked fine. i was changing things and wanted to see if it would update differently and deleted the account.

but now, i cannot re-add the account to my device.

i have tried to re-enter the account through "accounts" and the twitter application, i just get the following error:

"Sorry can't connet to twitter"

any ideas?

i can login online just fine with my computer and on the web browser on the device.

I had the same problem on the very first day I got my N9... I tried some things like deleting accounts database and such... but eventually only a hard reset of the device helped.

I ran into the same problem -- the dreaded "Sorry, can't connect to Twitter" error. For me, the underlying cause seems to have been some broken GConf settings.

My fix was to use developer mode to completely nuke all of the GConf settings for Internet connectivity. Beware: This fix is not for the faint of heart, and even though it worked well for me, I don't guarantee that it won't badly screw something up on your N9.

Using the shell provided by developer mode, I ran

Code:
gconftool --recursive-unset /system/http_proxy
gconftool --recursive-unset /system/proxy
gconftool --recursive-unset /system/osso
Then I rebooted the N9. You'll need to re-set up your Internet connections. I think this also ends up nuking your power saver settings and your bluetooth settings as collateral damage. But right after doing this procedure, I was able to sign in to Twitter whereas before no matter what I did, Twitter would fail.

Thanks to vitaminj, whose logged comments in #harmattan from a couple months ago showed me the solution. (See in particular the series of messages starting at 22:52.31.)

worked a charm.

bote, you do not need to devel-su first. just open terminal and enter commands.

Hi, thanks for this tip. I had no problems when I first set up my twitter account, but wanted to change it today (you can't have more than one twitter account at a time). When I deleted the original account, I had the same problem. Anyway, I entered the code as above and it worked fine.

I tried to change twitter account today. In the authorise app phase, it's contacting twitter corrrectly (I can see the account profile picture) but it's hanging on Redirecting you back to the application.

I've tried the above gconftool adjustments and have restarted but to no avail.

Any help gratefully received!

@chrisf:

Unfortunately it seems that the app token has expired:

You can of course live in hope that there will be a fix, but it I would be you I would just go and install rocket. Rocket is a fairly decent twitter client and can populate the home feed:

Good luck!

Thanks Paolo. That's a shame. I'll give Rocket a try.
