the power consumption of LTE and UMTS differs, yes. But that's mostly related to the technology used rather than the modem itself. IOW a LTE modem on UMTS will use similar power as a UMTS-only modem

Jellyrolls figures are wrong.
the cutting edge n900 6 years ago "was" 600+ Euros.
He was taking into account the price of the new Jolla, the relatively new n9, and the much time depreciated price - "now" - of a "then" pricey n950 and n900.
Jellyroll's figure should have been more akin to
- The price of a neo is likened to.. less than the new n900 + n950 together-

even "if" taking into account brand new pricing for the Jolla+n9+n900+n950 (which would be far higher than jellyrolls calculation) the neo900 would STILL be worth it.Since the Jolla, n9, n900 and n950 are ALL closed proprietorially . Just on that one point alone ..at this juncture technologically ..it is unique and only REALLY comparable to the Freerunner.
