Hi all

Does anyone know if there a barcode scanner app for the N900 available?

For example out shopping looking for deals. Take a pic of the bar code and then do a google search for a cheaper deal. Apologies if this has been raised elsewhere.

Thanks

Zan

The N8x0 version is bit-rotting atm I'm afraid. I'd certainly be happy to help you back port functionality to it from the current N900 version if you're interested.

Mbarcode scanner is a java barcode scanner, right? I'm curious about whether other java apps also can be used in N900?

mbarcode is Qt-based, as far as I know.

Java now available on the N900 via the icedTea6 version of OpenJDK(tm) in extras. Check your Application Manager for "icedTea6" to install.

Thank you. Best wishes.

mbarcode is fast as hell recognizing barcodes. I don't know how it does but it's faster than any other phone I've seen. I think it doesn't even need to see the whole thing or to focus it. Simply amazing.
