That is how mine works, and I have not updated to the new firmware yet.

Strange indeed. I experienced the symptoms just last night and a friend of mine the day before. Probably a sticky process or something.

I have an iGo BT keyboard also & have never had this problem.

Glad to see you've got it working again though.

If this happens again, try typing

maemo-gtk-im-switch osso-input-method

in X-Term. This might set the input method to the onscreen keyboard without having to reboot.

Who knows how long this will last, but the fact that it's now working is really bizarre....
Oh, good. The 'batty' vibes I'm sending your N800 is working.

Carry on... .

@Urnass, that is a really helpful suggestion. Earlier I was thinking that it might be possible to force the on-screen keyboard in x-term, but I forgot to ask.

@Betty Woo, thanks for your vibes!

@Urnass, I haven't tried your suggested solution yet, but fanoush in this thread says

There was such command in 2007 and 2006 system - maemo-gtk-im-switch...Such command is no longer there in OS2008...
I'll nevertheless give it a try if it happens again...

An Update: I've discovered that in order to ensure that the onscreen keyboard will be restored after using the BT kb, I need to cease using the tablet, close the BT kb, and let about 10 minutes go by before using the tablet again. If I use the tablet before this 10 minutes of "sleep" is up, I won't get the onscreen kb back (even if I use the BT kb again and *then* let them sleep for 10 minutes.

In trying various combinations, I've discovered another weird thing. Typically, when the BT kb pairs up successfully, I do *not* see the BT symbol in the status bar. However, every once in a while, after hitting the first key to "wake" the BT kb (usually this is when the Notes app is open), the tablet will go berserk, the desktop background will go grey, and then the BT symbol will appear in the status bar, my clock applet will disappear, and the tablet will stay like that until I reboot. I have also noticed that sometimes when this happens, I am unable to close CLAWS. Wee-ird.

Is this with OS2008 and the ultraslim? I use OS2007 and the Sierra. I simply fold it and I'm immediately back to normal (that is, on-screen) keyboard.

I am using OS2008 (though not the latest "power on/off"-fixing version), and the iGo Stowaway BT kb.
