What a coincidence! I have been contemplating the very same for a while now. For the very same reason.

That plus the fact that our forum has been taken over by the fans of The Other platform, one that a) has nothing to do with Maemo and b) has its own forum.

I find it curious that both things (taking over and strange governance) took place around the same time. Coincidence?

After this round of voting and the next and the next and the next ....it'll be a whole new ball of fun....pretty much every time.
As far as people on board with non-maemo devices / platforms...that can and will always change.
Become a candidate who owns/ uses maemo-based devices / platforms..
Vote for a candidate who owns/ uses maemo-based devices / platforms..
There are options...and even if you personally decide on neither of the two aforementioned options...things will change regardless of whether you include yourselves in the process.
It just depends...whether you wish to have input and try to change things the way you wish....
For myself ...If I had the power of final decisions...
I'd be quite draconian in my separation of devices, forums and such ...
I commiserate...
they have a zero-total bearing on this community...
and [for lack of kinder words] shun them as lepers and as long as peace is kept and they stay in their end of the swamp...
and so for now tolerate their presence...

If it were my decision....well the damage has been done...for quite some time now...As long as they behave...I see no prob in them staying...But non-maemo device / platforms forums deserve no special consideration otherwise the precedent becomes ugly and we have an iphone and windowsphone sub-forum next.
.For a start...non-maemo devices / platforms forums...Should not be on the same page as our device / platforms forums/ subforums...it should be on a whole separate page ..not on the prime Forum/ sub-forum page ...flat out..they have little to do with us [if anything] and we them...
But I think since the doors been open for a while now...they should be allowed some considerations....
As far as who is running things...well quite a few of the guys..."were" maemo device users...so that "almost" counts ..eh?

But honestly...
no foreign device-line / platform user-base should have a majority in ruling over the maemo community...
a presence in rule ...sure...
for example out of 6 members on council say...
there shouldn't be 50% or more of the members being non-maemo device/ platform users...or then the mandate naturally changes for the maemo community in a given bias toward non-maemo devices / plaforms and their users...
that is an inevitability...
anyone arguing different is attempting to fool others or fooling themselves..
....so for apparent reasons..
2 non-maemo-device/ platform users out of 6 on council ...

In other words...
Consideration, allowance for a presence and a voice for how things should be run and going...for our "guests" ...for sure...I'm all for that...

But the guests able to dictate to the hosts of the house how things are going to be run?

No.

So guys..in essence...don't like the sitch?
then vote and or run for office and help to run things the way they should be to keep the priority of Maemo.org ...."actually"... Maemoan.
It's that simple.

The reality is ...In a few years all these people from other devices will be moving on to their next devices...think they'll all stick around here?

So...it means maemo device users HAVING stepping up to the plate to run the place again...inevitably ...

My lady wanted a Tesla convertible but opted for a 2015 BMW 4 seater hardtop convertible...
May just get a tesla...perhaps in a decade or so...when they have more services in Canada available...

Convertible...no sir, never again. I Will never go there again EVER. Even a hardtop...it's nice when you slow driving on a slow road close to the sea...but I'm a more of highway guy right now...where I live now.

The Old tesla have Quality issues and is Down right Boring. They have a new one that I havent tried yet With 750 HP. Nowdays I just love My Audi A8, just 0,6 sec slower than the fastest sportscars and 1 sec slower than the new tesla...than we have super sportscars...With a totally different pricetag that is beyond my wallet...for now BMW is also quality for sure, not the fastest but pure quality, love the Germans. Good choice!

My baby's new beamer is tripped right out..and fast as hell...
Took some snaps of the rep. unveiling and hand-over of the keys etc..before driving it out of the showroom [my lady really wanted me to film it (yeesh) so I got 11min of the experience on film for her to relive..(It's her 1st convertible beamer...) ] ...




B.C. highway speed limit has been upped to 120 kmph ...so we got gremlins and pintos (Michael Bay 'splosions!!! Ma-Blah-Blooooom! )
doing 130-140 ...so on our lovely Island highway... we need bloody leather gloves, coats hats and goggles (and for Eddie) to avoid sun and wind burn at that velocity.. Damn fun...the new beamer hard tops are quite the piece of engineering...
Me...I'm more of a vintage motorcycle with sidecar kinda guy...still need the goggles...but add a white silk scarf to the leather jacket...toss the pup in...away you go...

Ed likes the new car but tends to curl up and just go to sleep...not exciting enough for him..

Driving out of the shop for the first time...great feeling! Looks great. The dog too. Is it the one with one eye? It's not, right...how many dogs do you have?

And I have been having a heck of a time finding one for him...
I may have to hack up a pair of goggles into one ...
