My problem was this:
  • Latecomer to Maemo.
  • Newcomer to Linux.
  • I had Skype once upon a time, but I deleted it because I didn't think I needed it.
  • Skype drops support for n8x0.
  • Now it isn't possible to download from the application manager, but the service still works for those who still have it.

Note: As far as I know this should work with any version of Diablo, up to the latest stable version of the Community SSU.

1.) Contact me through Private Message so I can help you get started.

2.) Put all of the files into a folder called "skypefiles"

3.) Plug in your tablet via USB, then move the folder into the E: drive.

4.) Safely remove the tablet from your computer.

5.) On the tablet, open up the terminal (xterm) and press enter after each line.

Code:
sudo gainroot
cd /media/mmc2/skypefiles
It might be useful to copy and paste this one into the terminal..
Code:
dpkg -i libuiw_0.0.28_armel.deb skype_1.7.113.22.2_armel.deb skype-theme-default_1.7.113.22.2_all.deb skype-l10n-dadk_1.7.113.22.2_all.deb skype-l10n-dede_1.7.113.22.2_all.deb skype-l10n-engb_1.7.113.22.2_all.deb skype-l10n-enus_1.7.113.22.2_all.deb skype-l10n-eses_1.7.113.22.2_all.deb skype-l10n-esmx_1.7.113.22.2_all.deb skype-l10n-fifi_1.7.113.22.2_all.deb skype-l10n-frca_1.7.113.22.2_all.deb skype-l10n-frfr_1.7.113.22.2_all.deb skype-l10n-itit_1.7.113.22.2_all.deb skype-l10n-nlnl_1.7.113.22.2_all.deb skype-l10n-nono_1.7.113.22.2_all.deb skype-l10n-ptbr_1.7.113.22.2_all.deb skype-l10n-ptpt_1.7.113.22.2_all.deb skype-l10n-ruru_1.7.113.22.2_all.deb skype-l10n-svse_1.7.113.22.2_all.deb
6.) Just wait patiently as you would installing any other application. The last output from the terminal should be something like "Skype cache created successfully"

BEFORE MOVING ONTO THE NEXT STEP, MAKE SURE YOU ALREADY HAVE AN ACCOUNT FOR SKYPE. NEVER SIGN UP ON THE DEVICE.
If you don't, go ahead and just register from a computer.

7) Now you can use Skype to your heart's content! Enjoy!
