okay so ended up at Maemo5 - openSUSE and got to
Accept the EULA on this webpage
googled [n900 scratchbox] and ended up at What happened with http://tablets-dev.nokia.com/eula/index.php?? where the link from post 2 seems dead...

Any way to still get a token to set up Maemo scratchbox?
Or download a zip of a running install (even though from the warnings in the SDK set up page this seems rather tricky...)

Two post you want to look at, 1 is a bootable ISO image and 2 is instructions setting up scratchbox. Personally, i used 2

See Installing Maemo 5 SDK using a text based installer, the "EDIT" around point 12. There's a line to add to your sources.list which gets the Nokia packages from repository.maemo.org. Amazingly if I paste it into this forum the token is replaced with asterisks.

The iso image nieldk referred to contains a lot of tools, but when I tried it a couple of months ago I found no scratchbox.

I forgot about the token and can't remember for what it was. Maybe that is the reason why my upload of my VM sdk image got deleted.
I think this was the fastest and easiest approach to get a sdk running.

I am wondering what was the Eula about. Do I need to go to prison now.
