Glad to hear antix has more than just promise...
I have been using antix for quite a long time now on my convertibles laps...
and out of so many distros...
it has always been in my top 10 favourites.
For many reasons...
The last year I have been a bit preoccupied with other things than experimentation ...
otherwise I would be playing with getting antix on arm ...


And I always saw a great deal of possibility for our community in antix.
I imagine that the antix community would be very interested in any arm devel done...and we may also find that there is a great deal of possible help from said community concerning testing as well...
Since there is literally zero antix arm devel that has been done..
and I don't believe it isn't because antix on arm isn't possible...
more like... many there have had their focus on other areas of interest...
But this interesting development definitely will catch their attention there...
I would suggest starting a thread in their community forum concerning such ...

I will be keeping a very close eye on this new potential...

After what I saw when I booted it on the Iconia,
both AntiX and MX have a lot of potential for testing tablets,

I would fund more LTC to get more Intel tablets tested:
Somewhere out there is an Intel(or AMD) cpu'ed tablet
just waiting to be discovered for linux.
I cannot afford to buy any more tablets,
but I can afford to bother people for a few minutes with their tablet.
We could just do this right here and get it done now.

I can imagine the excellence of their distro is due, in part,
to having a tight focus.
I personally would never wish any loss of quality
in exchange for a wider scope.
That said, however, their distro could use an ARM version
as long as it did not hinder the current versions in any way.
I will consider such - I am shy of enthusiastically barging in
with what might be outside their 'scope of work'
[disclaimer, I regard ARM and Intel's ATOM as equally flawed
technological abortions - they are -both- horrible to work on]
[objective: " Handheld gnu/linux machine" fed by a dumb modem]

I have posted and been around the antix community just enough to know that you won't be offending or stepping on toes or pulling anyone away from their focus ..
If anything...
setting up a thread in their community forum on the exploration of antix on arm would be a considerate and polite thing to do since it is after all ...their distro

I think running a thread in our and their community...
showing what developments with antix has achieved on arm and what hasn't will be very interesting...
I think as well...that the casual input and interest by community members there will speed up development for you as well...
since their input will help in chucking some avenues of devel you think may be valid ...but which they know are not..and help steer in a direction for the best outcome...and likewise I believe what their community will learn about arm ...in application ..could be of great value to them as well...

So benefiting both communities

And I am sure that many there will follow such a thread with great interest and throw their experience and wisdom into the thread where and when they can in an effort to illuminate or help. (and that cannot hurt at all)

I don't think you need to worry about stepping on toes or offending any there...
The community there isn't like that...
And I don't think it should be a worry about running a thread ...
as a matter of changing the focus of interest for the antix community...
It is more like ...no one there has either thought to apply antix to arm ..or has the experience in working with arm as our community does...
And don't forget ...one of their prime philosophies and interests for their community IS trying to get antix to run on older hardware ...
In fact all their development in newer antix iterations is focused on making sure that old hardware isn't left behind.. (unlike the mandate for most distros and communities which is to drop the old hardware and software and embrace the new as fast as possible..)
And yet antix as well is a cutting edge rolling release...
fascinating ...really...

So what better example of old hardware is there than the Nxx0 line?

I think it a great idea which would benefit both communities...
and yup ...they definitely could't hurt having an arm distro...
it would bring many more people interested in antix to the community and to ours as well

Of course I do have a motive after all...
My secret agenda in all this...
is a hope for a smooth problem free antix on the Nxx0

Actually I just recalled...
antix does have some very lean variant versions to install...
which you may find have much more promising results...

Behold I got Antix Linux to run from a live USB drive on my HP Pro Tablet 608 G1. I am using the 32 bit build with the efi file for 32 bit efis. I think I figured out the problem. Even though it has a 64 bit copy of Windows and a 64 bit efi, it has trouble booting 64 bit linux. It however can boot 32 bit linux flawlessly. In Virtualization it also had trouble booting 64 bit linux.
Touchscreen and pen work fine. Pen hovering works. Sound doesn't work. It was capable of seeing the SD Card, so the card reader works. I wasn't able to test wifi. I couldn't figure out how to rotate the screen or change the display.

getting card reader recog is one of the absolute pita things...
Fab that it works out of the box...
I am sure most ...if not all other issues are fixable.
wifi and sound there must be hacks for...
antix is a cutting edge distro too so there must be a fix...
rotation and such... dig through the distro and you will find how to do it...

I really do suggest starting a thread and maintain it (of course) in the antix forum...
You could get the issues you have cleared up mighty quick with some feedback from antix community members...

By the way you may find as far as de's go..and your screen size...
customizing it some so it isn't so damn uncomfortably small tiny and tight...
I have found e17 works very nicely with antix...and would fit the bill for customizing such a compact screen size...
and highly customizable old skool window maker works very well as well with antix...
I mess around with de's on my antix all the time...
installed just about every one ...just to see how they perform on antix...
and have only found a handful that don't care for antix...
that don't play nice...
the rest run like a dream...
so plenty to play with until you find that goldilocks zone of comfort you like...

That it boots 32bit and not 64bit is intriguing,
as the 64bit version seems to have the 32bit UEFI
(/efi/boot/bootia32.efi in the AntiX-16_x64-full.iso package).
Is there any possibility it is not booting UEFI ?
I used USB-creator which does some fancy ISO magic,
and although it seems unlikely,
is there a chance the tablet is falling back to booting bios not UEFI?
More on that at the end below...

First:
The tools can show whether the wifi was even detected
(like the display below of Antix Control Center - Full Info page)
If the device is detected and merely misconfigured it would be golden.
Perhaps the device is requiring a 64bit driver for wifi,
which could be where it goes off the rails.
In the first Baytrail chips the device drivers needed to be 32bit,
but it may be that by now everything is expecting 64bit - or not!?!

Rotating the screen on these things is always a challenge,
there are many things that get cast in stone during the boot process.

It may be that sound is a hopeless cause.
Finding the sound device then getting it to cooperate with Pulse
probably requires an act of God.

Everything hinges on getting wifi to work,
because if wifi can be made to work (no dongles!)
then anything can be fixed eventually.
Without wifi a tablet can be extremely difficult to update or even use.
With my Iconia I could use the 3g but it was excruciating frustration.

The HP forums are a bit intimidating to read,
but I always have a bit more optimism that things can be sorted
if enough handles exist in the system.
The grief windows users sometimes experience can be either
illuminating or hopefully irrelevant once a linux distro works.
I would, however be extremely leery of doing anything
to change, upgrade or downgrade the BIOS,
because such things can go terminally broken.
