I had a Medion digital camera once. Not too bad but not the best of breed either. I loved the fact that it had an optical viewfinder and a mechanical mode switch. I hated the fact that the video had crap sound and that it once died when I left it on my desk for about an hour in direct sunlight.

The fact that it died gave me the opportunity to disassemble it and find out what the deal was with the crap sound. It turned out that the mic was in a rubber tube to shield the noise from the case. This tube was clearly designed to have a hole in the front, but it did not.

Medion had it's breakthrough in germany by offering an extremely cheap Pentium 166 PC to aldi back in the 90ties.
They maintained a close relationship to aldi since then.
Lenovo bought 80% of medion shares in 2013.
