gotta be software, since:

- sensors checked (messwerk)
- upon open browser (or messages/ filebrowser/ notes, however contacts stays portrait...) homescreen rotates, browser's shows correct in landscape, upon closing browser homescreen rotates back (wrongfully) to portrait
- this is reproducible

-> so jolla please fix!

That is absolutely 100% expected. Without a patch, homescreen is always in portrait.

well, funny: it rotates before opening the app, the app shows fine (rotated) and upon closing it rotates (wrong) back to portrait...

A proper fix/solution to the rotation issue is needed.

I figure n accompanying device would solve the problem of rotation...

That's the way it has been for a *long* time, I cannot vouch for the behaviour on the very first iteration of SFOS four years ago but certainly for years!

In the old days the app previews would rotate to give a better preview, can't say I remember whether the menus did too.
