To expand their marked share Sony are working on a successor to the legendary Sony Ericsson Xperia Pro.

This phone will be based off the Xperia XA2 chipset but featuring at full size QWERTY slider keyboard.

An official demo presentation has recently been uploaded to YouTube showing what's clearly looking like an Xperia XA2 with a full size keyboard running SailfishOS.

According to the announcement video Xperia XA2 Pro is going to be the first Sony phone officially sold with SailfishOS as an option.

Only 1000 SailfishOS based devices are going to be offered as first. Vouchers are available in the official demo video bellow. Hurry up!

The claim that it is uses the same chipset as Xperia XA2 is what really tipped me. The XA2 uses Cortex A53 cores, which is made for low-power efficiency, not performance, and which has been superseded by the A55 anyway. So, them using such poor performing CPU for something high end would be baffling.
