Well, so did you managed to install canola clean up after all ? if not :/
I don't know if we can help more :/ and as I use to say we have 2 options

1) to suggest you to flash the device ( this is bad I know )
2) see if you can arrange a fix ip or something on the device, and we will be able to ssh to it, and fix it remotely for you.
I did manage to install canola-cleanup, yes, but like I said, the same errors appear. I have to admit, though, I am not too keen on option #1 and I will spare you your time and skip option #2. (any option #3?)
As much as I love canola, perhaps I will forshake it and not install it and save me the trouble...wait, no I think it is worth it!
I think I even had to flash before to make the transition from canola to canola2!

Hi Wizink : just making clear that, as you can see a lot of users install with no problems, so it's also some "behaviors" that can cause this if you have ipython, you problably using some other repositories not "recommend" for end users, thus you know you're putting your installation in danger also

We cannot predict all the problems, that OTHER non official packages in repositories across the globe can cause : / unfortunately also the application manager is not dealing correctly with this : / So you can more or less see, that you do, you pay a price

What we make sure to work : on flashed or brand new devices, and in our personal / already with previous version installed devices, and official repositories only. the problems other repositories can generate is beyong our reach : /

anyways, thanks for the persistence and we would do what we can to reduce even more this cases, but there's a limit : /

Once again, I appreciate your help and I thank you and the other developers for creating canola2. Even if I have to reflash, I believe it is worth the effort. Canola2 is too much of an asset to these internet tablets to not have.

@Mooler : this can be caused by several issues not related to canola or it's package, so the best way to receive help is providing us here in the forum the result of the log.

*just saying "it's failing at X" doesn't help at all.

First thing that could have happened: your internet connection failed in the middle of the download. / the maemo repository went down for a couple of seconds, and so on.

Can you please copy and paste your log from the application installer here?

Br

I experimented with this for a while. It is difficult to get working and nearly impossible to get working every time. In other words, when you stick your finger to slide things, you never know if it is going to work or not, pretty much as if you were pressing a button without jitter removal.

Film perforation idea : no ways : / sorry, it's just out of our vision for it ;/
At least make the empty bands at screen edges wider, even if you are not willing to denote them with any graphical elements...

I'm sad that you are having this problems, we will keep studying (not messing the released source) trying to improve this click rate success (for all cases)
You may want to change the way you register a click and introduce a "jitter protection" of a sort. For example, you may want to register a click only if there is no movement 500ms past the UP event.

PS: BTW, I have never been able to invoke Nokia's on-screen finger keyboard. I am always getting a stylus keyboard, even when touching screen with a finger. This may somehow be related to Canola problem described above.
