  • Given the vote went one way with such a small margin, even a small proportion could swing it the other way. However if a second vote were held tomorrow, I would not expect a decisive victory one way or another. It would be another 48/52.
Okay, it is nice to get the truth out from the real source, someone who actually is affected by this brexit thing.

I have to say I'm a bit surprised about these facts since in Finland it is generally believed that the Brits feel a bit different, that actually many regret the way the vote went.
The story here is that the vote-to-leave campaign succeeded only because people were fed up with some events in UK, and cast a vote to leave just as a protest, so that many who voted did not actually want to leave EU but did it just to give a slap to the then-current govenment. Basically thinking that it would never go through so giv'em hell.

For that reason many are sympathetic and mourn for the poor Britons who made a bad choise because they did not believe it would stand chance to turn the way it did.

To be or not to be in an area of universe where you survives the supernova. Not hide under your table.

I was thinking something like the THE GREAT WALL -Matt damon. Blue, red soldiers and every colour with an specific task.

"You know you are an expendable soldier whennnn...."

Your boss puts you in a massive contingent of men all dressed the same colour so from his safe distance away...on in the neighbouring province...he can tell exactly how many of that colour have died.

Your boss shoves a long pole up the back of your armour so it sticks out about 20 above your head with a brightly coloured banner with the company and expendable number that is you on it ...
To again differentiate just how many of your massive contingent have bitten the dust.

personally I would like some plain brown, or dust coloured or grey colours...
since just like with a box of chocolates...or fancy wrapped gilded christmas present...
Dressed up in fancy colours, and finery denoting importance is like painting a "Shoot me first !" sign on one's chest.
One ALWAYS loves going for the prize first...
and in warfare ...going for what looks like the most important personnel first...
Is VERY demoralizing for the enemy.

unless of course the point is to put EVERYONE in neon and florescent colours ...to give the enemy troops headaches and eyestrain ...

War must be demoralizing with colour code uniforms or not. But have you seen the movie? They are fighting some fairly big green frogs or so. No guns allowed as far as I remember.

Also, you can differentiate without colour coding too like the seals vs delta or infantry vs flyboys in starship troopers. Unless you are able to use ESP! Do you want to know more?

There are so many sci-fi stories out there and we are circulating

But have we seen the evil universe invade this peaceful species in another part of the universe and in the end the hero of the peaceful kills all the humans with a massive stunt. Have we seen that before?

That is partially true. I have seen quite a few online posts to that effect. One of them even admitted to exactly what you said, that he did not really mean it, he just wanted to give the government a bloody nose. So I take back my previous statement, I have met one.

But the vast majority of the protest voters remain confused to this day. They did not and still do not understand what they really voted for. My favourite - and there are surprisingly lot of them - are those who voted Leave "to keep all the Muslims out".

Another example. There was a Goodyear factory in Wolverhampton scheduled for closure by the end of 2016. Nothing to do with Brexit, the decision was made long before that. Wolverhampton was a strong Leave area with a 63% majority. Shortly after the vote, the BBC sent a team there to interview the factory workers. They made an hour long radio pprogramme about it that I listened to on my commute. The general feeling among the workers was Goodyear had a choice to close one factory in Europe and they chose the UK one because it was easier (due to UK law) than closing one in France, Germany or Poland. The workers' answer to that? Push their government to change the law, for their own protection? No. To vote Leave. To this day I do not understand how exactly they think it is going to help them but I doubt they actually thought it that far.

So, protest vote? Yes, definitely. Change of heart? Maybe some, but definitely not the majority. Not even remotely.

I think leave won becouse poeple in general like the music the loved in their early years.

And now many older people want to have it like when they were younger.

Right? Wrong? Maybe?

Regarding colour-coded uniforms. I have been told that the move from bright colours to camouflage took place during the Boer Wars in South Africa. And that it happened because the nature of warfare changed. If the battle consists of two armies standing against each other on a big field and fighting with swords in an almighty mishmash, it helps if you can tell friend from foe instantly. Once you can kill each other from a distance, you can tell who is on your side just by means of proximity and bright colours become a disadvantage.

You know, that is almost exactly what I have been saying. A lot of things changed since you were young. The music, the fashion, technology, the curency (decimalisation), you are no longer 20 and handsome, can't drink as much, have a family and responsibilities, a lousy job that you hate but cannot leave because of the aforementioned responsibilities... In short, everything is worse than when you were young. You cannot change any of that, which makes you even more frustrated and angry. But look, someone has offered you a chance to change something. Even though it has nothing to do with any of your voes, you grab it because you have nothing else.
