I wasn't expecting the latest iteration to work on anyrhing we have.

As far as the original Jesusonic goes ...
I will look and dig through what I have...
See if I have a copy of the source.
I am sure I have it somewhere here.

no...
I couldn't find it...
Thought I had source for it.
I was mistaken..it was a different thing completely I had source for.
In fact so far to my knowledge, the source code for the linux version of the old Jesusonic 0.991 was never released...
I could again be mistaken, but ...I could not find it anywhere.
Perhaps I wasn't looking in the right places...and another will have better luck.

hmmm....
well if no source code for Jesusonic (0.991 that is)
what about calf studio ?
soooo...
the n900 does have ladspa (if I remember right)
perhaps a python frame wrapped around ladspa utilizing calf plugins?
not just any calf will do ...either...
for ladspa...and calf to work ...
you need better than calf...
you need ...
(wait for it..)
Veal.

hahaha
yup.
Veal is calf for ladspa

https://github.com/LMMS/veal

TheLast remaining LADSPA-capable fork of the Calf Studio Gear audio plugins ..

whaddya think guys ?

oh ...wait...Veal runs through LMMS ..and that is pretty much an easy debian nightmare...LMMS just never played well with others when it came to our devices...
If I remember some got it running ...somewhat ok...on the n810...
But seriously mixed results, and now easy debian for the n810 is so old ...forget trying to do a decent install of virtually anything.
and I don't think LMMS worked on the n900 at all..
too many problems..
But I could be mistaken...

shame about Jesusonic though...
THAT ...as simple and archaic as it seems ...can do more than all the prefabricated unalterable stuff out there.
You can easily create your own effects with jesusonic ..
pity...
just have to keep using it on laptops instead.
and continue with gtkgep on my nxx0's

I can't believe how thick headed I can be.

I have been mucking about with containers on UT on my nexus 5 ...
trying to work around rt-ep (real time effects processing...rt-ep is easier to write all the time...)
and it dawned on me.
Leste.
Leste should be able to handle rt-ep ...since it is basically straight debian (rather devuan) for arm...
meaning as well ....screw the maemo repos and what little there is there in rt-ep to work with...
we will have the entirety of the debian arm wing to run...
even ...potentially desktop stuff (gotta do a little or a lot to them to make them arm compat ...depending..)
meaning ..proper rt-ep progs.
technically the n900 may be able to handle some lighter stuff...
It can handle gtkgep fine ...I use it all the time..
and it is nice and portable ...for the n900..instead of lugging a laptop around,
but I just want the ability to have it all on a handheld..
even create new effects ...
for outting from my harps to a handheld and then to either headphones or amp...
(crap...for the longest time I wished milkytracker or sunvox on the n900 / n8x0 had rt...too much ...packed in it already I suppose...)
but better would be the nexus 5 and its hardware...
the 5 could handle more intense stuff..
not containerized...not hamstrung...or limited..
humhumhum hum
in fact...once Leste is daily driver ready...even close to daily ...
I don't see a reason why a very specific variant of Leste can't be tweaked...
a proper low latency variant, meant specifically for music work.
Low Latency Leste ()

I don't think a mobile os (rather the kernel) has ever been deliberately altered for that specific desire...
since the mobile os idea is to offer speed to running apps...lightning fast, to cater to the impatience of a modern audience,
and low latency is purely about focus on making sure input sound is routed through desired processing to be then delivered out the other end with little to no noticeable lag in time...ie- struck note=processed=altered sound exiting as fast as it is created.
Of course most other processes are given a short leash while doing such rt-ep sound work...
but who the hell is able to facebook text or tweet at the same time as focus on playing harp, guitar or whatever is being played?
I could care less about running apps while I am focused on the most important one ...delivering good sound to me.

Leste opens up a whole new and different can of monkeys ...
I will have to track down and talk to some folks come the new year..

I have been doing some homework...specifically n900 in mind..

#1 -looking into tweaking gtkgep ...

...so the interface is easier on the eye on the n900, and seeing if setting up new presets is going to be an easy thing, hard or impossible.

#2 -I would prefer something like the old jesusonic ...

, that is by default, built so one can easily write one's own effects...making it a VERY versatile option.
There being no source of the prog, I have hunted . only a tar ...doesn't help though.
BUT it may work on the n900 under specific circumstances ...*

#3 -took a run through on the new open sauce implementation of jesusonic for linux... JSUSFX...
So there IS a linux variant of jesusonic kinda sorta
(https://github.com/asb2m10/jsusfx)

which is pretty freakin' cool...
check out this demo vid.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7f9fOeBecaY

and wondering if the n900 could handle it ..

and lastly...

#4 -revisited and did some digging on ecamegapedal...

(which is a hell of a program, I would put in 2nd behind jesusonic for versatility.)
it can handle ladspa plugins as well as the 30 presets it has...(I think presets can be written for it as well...)
I found a few things that make this a very viable possibility ..for the n900 at least.
firstly is there is an armel of it.
http://archive.debian.org/debian/poo.../ecamegapedal/
and secondly, primary dep for it is ecasound, which runs well in easy deb from what has been mentioned in one of the threads here.
So quite possibly the armel may be suitable or quasi suitable and possibly an armel of ecasound may be doable to make it run under fremantle proper.
Failing that, it is possible that since ecasound 2.7.0 already is stated as running fine in easy deb on the n900, and so the primary dep satisfied, then quite likely ecamegapedal will work with little to no problem if installed and run in easy deb on the n900.
But it bodes well if ecasound already runs well on the n900, then there is a very real possibility ecamegapedal will as well.
And a "maybe" ....that the program could run native-ly on the n900.

I forgot to mention Freqtweak which is also a helluva program...
enabling real time effects processing by altering the visually outputted audio spectral manipulation of the sound...
Wicked cool...

FeqTweak is one of the most likely candidates for the n900 since it is still in the current debian and buntu standard repos...
So it may well work pumping it through Leste.

* and naturally , again extrapolating on this same tack, it may also be possible for the old (doubtful about the newer JSUSFX) jesusonic tar to install and run fine under Easy Deb.

Of course these options are theoretical at this point.

So...mscion...
here it is simple.

You will want a headphone / microphone jack that plugs into your n900 headphone jack...
it splits to separate female headphone and microphone ends.
like this one ...for example....which are very cheap and plentiful..

buy 10 for for under $10
Or spend a few dollars and get a decent one...
I would suggest a couple ...always good to have spares.

You may want a pair of headphones or ear buds with a good long length of cord to them ...depending on where and how you wish the n900 to sit while playing..

You will want a couple 3.5 mm male to 1/4" female adapter for the mic in ...on the splitter ...so you can plug your guitar or oyster pick up into it. (depending on the types of instrument you enjoy playing..)
and possibly the headphone out to an amp if you desired..
Like this one...

yet again you can find stupidly cheap ones...
I would suggest paying the 3 to 5 dollars ...decent versions..decently plated..and grab a couple of them...have some spares.

Ebay will get you what you need quick and cheap...and as good a quality as the pennies you wish to spend.

All told if you end up paying more than $10 for 2 splitters and 2 adapters ...then you are aiming for decent ones...

Now...
you are good to go.

GTKgep installation is easy ...

https://talk.maemo.org/showpost.php?...9&postcount=50

download, install it and run it via terminal ...just typing gtkgep never started it for me...
I just type in the longer string of command and it does.
Annnnddd
Awaaaayyyy
You go.

You'll have fun with it ....promise.

Me...
It depends ..
I have some stereo pick ups for my harps ...and oyster pick ups too.
And either run the pick up through my tuner first ...
then out to one of my extra n900s that I have put velcro on the back of...
and a square of velcro on either the side or pillar of one of my harps..(depending on the harp...) so it is conveniently close and secure from getting knocked around.
And then out to an amp ..
or out to my earbuds..
or out to my laptop for more fun...or recording...or whatever...and then out from there yet again to earbuds or an amp...

In the end...though ...it enables a lot of good loud light portable fun on the go with the n900 in your hand...that you can enjoy with earbuds...without deafening others...
If that is the end goal..of course..
