Well, I have to admit I'm growing a little less optimistic. Perhaps nearing the point where Dave999's insights could be illuminating!

Dave left....
He has had enough...
He pretty much felt that the place was not what it was or should be...

Gotta say...
I stick around for 4 ....
NO!
5!
5 reasons...
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1N6OOWtCYQA
in order of least to greatest importance community and personally ...-wise:

1- to help newmos with their n8x0's (every now and then a new person still shows up...eventually though ...it may dwindle down to very few new n8x0 users...or none...but until that time happens I will stick it out)

2- On the off chance new progs get made , new developments occur for our os's, and we get our collective act together while we can...to deal with a few simple issues...I will continue to stick around.

3- To be a madcap PITA whenever possible...
but frankly isn't a huge reason to stay...
it is poor motivation..

4- Maemo Leste is a big reason to stick around...for my n900's and hopefully my nexus 5's ...so I will stick around for that reason..

5- for the real time effects processor work..

But all told..
I am not as active here as I used to be...
I imagine that will ebb and flow ...much like everything else in life..
Not gone yet...
Not thinking about going yet either..

But yeah..
Dave's only impetus to come dwindled down to coming to see what viable alternative devices were available or soon to become available...
His angst is a reflection of the state of devices and start ups I think...
If it were me...and I came here with such hopes ...
it wouldn't be long before I was turfed out or driven out or "warned" such as Dave was..
I would be quickly leaving.

I pay little attention to the start ups..
simply because I see them as a dangerous thing here...
it makes one put a huge amount of hope in an endeavour ...
too much emotion,
wasted time,
wasted money ,
waiting, waiting and more waiting,
more hoping,
more despair at a downturn or stall or hurdle or failure to produce,
more community tension,

this wasn't the TMO mandate to allow this place to be this way.
So I stay far far away from what is a toxic eventuality in such threads..
The only time I go into such threads is to call for the failed startups to be Archived ...
as they should be..
and for current startups to be moved elsewhere site-wise at best..to sandbox them away from central TMO ..
or better... simply expunge them all from TMO ...
let the snake oil vendors peddle their wares elsewhere on a different free platform and bilk the money out of the poor folks of that other place..instead.

Just tested latest revision of the image on my devkit and it seems the GFX has improved alot!

But I still think phosh is stupid reinvent the well madness no way I make C apps so sick of that low level language. So my next step is to try get plasma run again on it since it seems it got broken after upgrade :/

https://www.plasma-mobile.org/ is the future fully open mobile UI...

@mikecomputing, I wonder whether you would mind testing if Pure Maps is working on devkit? You could fetch it via flatpak @ flathub.org. I was told it doesn't show anything (black screen) and there is a suspicion that its related to some hardware issue. So, would be great to hear result of one more test.
