I have build this "portable" (has a handle but weights a bit but you can carry it with the handle) system to just look a bit cool. The machine was originally a 8mm viewing machine. It was like 60cm deep but I made it to about 30cm deep.
There.is an lcd display, behind that is standing a HP Compaq desktop pc. Pc does not have side panels and the system is open for air on both sides of the display not to overheat. 8Gb ram installed if I remember correctly, and it can take 16Gb if I remember correctly. Or it was that 8Gb is max. If someone gets interested I will check it. And it has a dvd player.
Behind the folding aluminium panel there is 2.1 Creative speakers integrated as well as a mouse and keyboard hotglued on the inner side of the front panel. Behind the machine is the original cooling propel of the machine connected to the bass and I have stamped on the propel B A S S so you know what you adjust when you turn the propel.
There is also a Logitech webcam where I have glued the optic lens from the original 8mm viewer machine.
So why would someone wan't this? It would be awesome to play retrogames, looking retro, having awesome soundsystem and it is something totally different. The antenna I have integrated on it is just for looks, but someone could plug a usb antenna dongle and use it for real too.
I am also going to sell my MikroMikko6 laptop with 4Mb ram as well as Comgaq Contura laptop with 6Mb ram and maybe some other laptops too.
If someone is interested on these PM.
The price of this system? Yes, that is really hard one. I used about 80€ for the machine, display and the keyboard. Audio stuff I got for free. The amount of work I did took some time and the most pricy is the idea and the end product how it looks. There are no bad offers. Just offers I either accept or not so feel free to sent them. And I understand if I won't get any. This was a one mans madness machine and you have to dig stuff like this and get it to wan't it.
I used it for presenting my video stuff when I had my art exhibition with motorcycle, hand crafts, paintings and playing an electric bass I had made inside a cloth model torso I had painted with silver and I was wearing a 70th skiing suit with a breadmachine as a helmet. A video of me partying https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hSdDx9qHbOk . Here is my youtube video of the exhibition and sorry for the fake accent. Did this video in a rush. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E8DM2EpmdFQ
